Transforming growth factors β and their signaling pathway in renal cell carcinoma and peritumoral space—transcriptome analysis
ConclusionOn the one hand, the underexpression of the TGF β signaling pathway genes within the malignant tumor may result in the loss of the antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic activity of this cytokine. On the other hand, the overexpression of the TGFβ/Smads pathway genes in the TME than in tumor or NK tissues most probably results in an immunosuppressi ve effect in the space surrounding the tumor and may have an antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic effect on non-neoplastic cells present in the TME. The functional and morphological consistency of this area may determine the aggressiveness of the tumor and the time in whi...

Comparing the survival rates of patients with stage IIIC endometrial cancer undergoing sandwich therapy to those undergoing sequential chemotherapy and radiotherapy: a meta-analysis
ConclusionsIn terms of long-term survival, sandwich therapy was found to be more advantageous than sequential therapy for patients with stage IIIC EC, with no significant disparity observed in the 3-year OS and toxicities between the two treatments. Sandwich therapy exhibited a tendency towards improved effectiveness in patients with histology other than endometrioid. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)

Validation of prognostic and predictive value of total tumoral load after primary systemic therapy in breast cancer using OSNA assay
ConclusionsIn BC patients who had received NAST and underwent SLNB analysis using OSNA, a TTL value of  >  25,000 copies/μL was associated with a higher progression risk and >  15,000 copies/μL was predictive of non-SLN involvement. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)

Neoplastic appendiceal mucinous lesions: a narrative review of the literature from an oncologist ’s perspective
AbstractAppendiceal mucinous lesions ’ classification and nomenclature has been modified several times along the last decades, reflecting their great heterogeneity and making difficult to compare results and draw conclusions. Despite its nearby origin, appendiceal mucinous lesions have a distinctive behaviour compared to colorectal c ancer, including their molecular and genetic markers. Due to their low frequency, their management is not well standardised. However, surgery is considered the cornerstone of treatment. Their indolent behaviour has encouraged surgeons to apply more aggressive treatments, such as cytoreductiv...

Predictive progression outcomes and risk stratification in patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma who received first-line immunochemotherapy
ConclusionIt was the first study that described the risk factors and progression characteristics in R/M NPC patients who received first-line ICT, investigating the progression patterns, which was helpful to identify patients with different risks and help guide personalized interventions. Single-cell analysis extracted CAFs-related genes to established online app to predict clinical outcome and radiotherapy prognosis of prostate cancer
ConclusionsThe prognostic prediction risk score model we constructed could accurately predict BRFS and radiotherapy prognosis PCa, which can provide new ideas for clinicians to develop personalized PCa treatment and follow-up programs. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)
