FDG –PET in patients with autoimmune encephalitis: a review of findings and new perspectives
ConclusionsThis extensive literature review shows the high sensitivity of FDG –PET and FDG–PET/CT in patients with AE. FDG–PET detects findings of hyper and hypometabolism which are suggestive of AE. Besides, AE caused by the different antibodies may present specific alterations which may be suggestive of each one. However, more prospective studies are necessary for the se images become a standard diagnostic method of AE. (Source: Clinical and Translational Imaging)

Molecular imaging to guide breast cancer surgery
ConclusionsSeveral interventional nuclear medicine techniques are currently available for the management of patients affected by breast cancer in different clinical settings. They provide diagnostic advantages in sub-centimetric lesions or low-grade tumours and help to guide biopsy, also identifying the area with the highest degree of perfusion or metabolism. Nevertheless, some of them are too expensive and not widely spread in hospitals or clinicians still lack confidence in their usage. Further studies are needed to optimise their role in everyday clinical practice. (Source: Clinical and Translational Imaging)

The importance of sampling time in radionuclide measurement of glomerular filtration rate in adults using single blood sample
ConclusionThe study experimentally confirmed that collection of single blood sample near patient-specific optimal sampling time significantly improves accuracy of prediction of the reference SI GFR by all validated single-sample methods. The method recommended by the BNMS guidelines provided the best results with low prediction error that was further reduced by collecting blood sample at optimal sampling time. The new methods successfully corrected for small deviations from optimal sampling time. (Source: Clinical and Translational Imaging)

Comparison between [18F]FET PET/MRI and [18F]FET PET/CT in the diagnosis of glioma recurrence: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionBased on the aforementioned findings, it appears that [18F]FET PET/CT exhibits comparable diagnostic capabilities to [18F]FET PET/MRI in the detection of glioma recurrence. Nevertheless, it is important to note that these conclusions were drawn from studies featuring limited sample sizes. Thus, there arises a necessity for further investigation through larger-scale prospective studies to delve deeper into this matter. (Source: Clinical and Translational Imaging)

Breast cancer: treatment response assessment with FDG-PET/CT in the neoadjuvant and in the metastatic setting
ConclusionFDG-PET/CT may be offered for the early assessment of response to neoadjuvant therapy, particularly in triple-negative or HER2-positive tumors, but treatment modification on the basis of FDG-PET/CT is not currently recommended outside clinical studies. FDG-PET/CT may play an important role in monitoring treatment response in the metastatic setting (especially in bone metastases) and FDG-PET/CT is more helpful than conventional imaging (CE-CT and bone scan). [18F]FDG PET/CT criteria for treatment response assessment: EORTC and beyond
AbstractIn the era of precision medicine, the optimization of oncological patient management with early and accurate tumor response assessment is crucial. In this scenario, [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has gained an important role in providing prognostically relevant information. The first PET-based scoring system proposed in 1999 was the well-known European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) criteria. From that moment on and over the last 20  years, several PET/CT criteria have emerged and have been adapted to enhance the response asse...

Conventional CT and PET/CT imaging in the evaluation and management of subsolid pulmonary nodules: an overview of the literature and author recommendations
AbstractSubsolid pulmonary nodules (SSNs) are frequent findings on CT scans, and their reported prevalence ranges between 9 and 20% in the literature. The management of SSNs requires specific knowledge. In this review, we report the standard imaging approach and the potential role of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in the detection of pulmonary SSNs, to help clinicians by providing evidence-based recommendations. The classification of the basic histology, nomenclature, and behaviours of the different lesions is described, with the typical imaging patterns and main recommendations for their managem...
