Collaborative research in myositis-related disorders: MIHRA, a global shared community model
Clin Exp Rheumatol. 2024 Mar 4. doi: 10.55563/clinexprheumatol/hc1lsf. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMyositis International Health and Research Collaborative Alliance (MIHRA) is a newly formed purpose-built non-profit charitable research organization dedicated to accelerating international clinical trial readiness, global professional and lay education, career development and rare disease advocacy in IIM-related disorders. In its long form, the name expresses the community's scope of engagement and intent. In its abbreviation, MIHRA, conveys linguistic roots across many languages, that reflects the IIM community's spirit w...

Treatment with lysophosphatidic acid improves glomerulonephritis through the suppression of macrophage activation in a murine model of systemic lupus erythematosus
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that LPA may improve glomerulonephritis by suppressing macrophage activation in MRL/lpr mice.PMID:38436267 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/ov6027 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

Prediction of the activity of early ankylosing spondylitis using radiomics texture analysis on STIR
CONCLUSIONS: Radiomics analysis based on STIR texture analysis has a good prediction for the evaluation of bone marrow oedema activity of sacroiliac joints in AS. It can be a new non-invasive and objective evaluation method for AS activity.PMID:38436270 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/99pc16 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

Performance of the 2017 EULAR/ACR Classification Criteria for adult and juvenile idiopathic inflammatory myopathies and their major subgroups: a scoping review
Clin Exp Rheumatol. 2024 Feb 28. doi: 10.55563/clinexprheumatol/vuc5py. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe 2017 EULAR/ACR classification criteria for adult/juvenile idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) were established using a data-driven approach by an international group of myositis experts to allow classification of IIM and its major subtypes. Since their publication, the performance of the criteria has been tested in multiple cohorts worldwide and significant limitations have been identified. Moreover, the understanding and classification of IIM have evolved since 2017. This scoping review was undertaken as part of ...

Increased expression of omentin-1 is associated with synovitis and bone destruction in rheumatoid arthritis
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested that omentin-1 was up-regulated in RA and can exacerbate synovitis and joint destruction which may provide new insight into the pathogenesis of RA.PMID:38436296 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/7pcgv7 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

IL-17-producing cells in ankylosing spondylitis patients show gender-based differences in gene expression
CONCLUSIONS: Transcriptomic analysis revealed that male AS patients exhibit distinct expression patterns of IL-17 pro-inflammatory genes, which may contribute to the phenotypic differences observed between genders in AS.PMID:38436300 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/do7osn (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

Exercise recommendations for patients with myositis: a narrative review of safety and efficacy
Clin Exp Rheumatol. 2024 Feb 20. doi: 10.55563/clinexprheumatol/m8fbs1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIdiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are marked by progressive muscle weakness and lasting disability. Therapies targeting patient well-being include the use of prescription drugs as well as exercise. Maintaining or increasing muscular strength and endurance as well as cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) improves quality of life (QoL) as well as functional status in IIM patients. This narrative review highlights exercise interventions in patients of different IIM subtypes with the intent to provide a summary table with exe...

Phenotypic spectrum of inclusion body myositis
Clin Exp Rheumatol. 2024 Feb 28. doi: 10.55563/clinexprheumatol/fhrx3q. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInclusion body myositis (IBM) is a progressive, debilitating muscle disease commonly encountered in patients over the age of 50. IBM typically presents with asymmetric, painless, progressive weakness and atrophy of deep finger flexors and/or quadriceps muscle. Many patients with IBM develop dysphagia. However, atypical presentations of IBM with isolated dysphagia, asymptomatic hyper-CKemia, foot drop, proximal weakness, axial weakness, and facial diplegia have been reported. Other acquired and some inherited disorders may ...

Two-year treatment persistence with subcutaneous abatacept in rheumatoid arthritis: results from the French cohort of the ASCORE study
CONCLUSIONS: In current practice in France, the rate of subcutaneous abatacept persistence at 2 years was comparable with that of the intravenous form. Treatment persistence was higher when abatacept was used as first-line versus later-line biologic therapy.PMID:38436358 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/ddx0fz (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)
