Influence of blood pressure variations during hemodialysis on the prognosis of dialysis patients
Clin Exp Hypertens. 2023 Dec 31;45(1):2236336. doi: 10.1080/10641963.2023.2236336.ABSTRACTThe prognosis of dialysis patients is poorer than that of the general population. The relationship between dialysis patients' blood pressure (BP) and mortality is controversial. We investigated the relationships between mortality and (i) pre-dialysis BP and (ii) BP variation during hemodialysis in maintenance dialysis patients. We retroactively analyzed the cases of the 284 patients on hemodialysis (mean age 68 ± 13 years old) who had been regularly followed at Kokura Daiichi Hospital, Japan in 2018. We assessed the relationship betwe...

Prognostic implications of machine learning-derived echocardiographic phenotypes in community hypertensive patients
CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that the conventional echocardiographic variables-based algorithm could help identify asymptomatic community hypertensive patients at risk for cardiovascular and all-cause death. Further studies are needed to develop and validate phenotype-specific prevention and intervention strategies in HTN.PMID:37477238 | DOI:10.1080/10641963.2023.2236334 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Hypertension)

Anthocyanin attenuates high salt-induced hypertension via inhibiting the hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system
CONCLUSIONS: Excessive salt intake activates NLRP3-dependent inflammation and oxidative stress and increased AT1R expression and function in the PVN. Bilateral PVN infusion of anthocyanin lowers peripheral sympathetic nerve activity and blood pressure in rats with salt-induced hypertension by improvement of expression and function of AT1R in the PVN through inhibiting NLRP3 related inflammatory and oxidative stress.PMID:37454306 | DOI:10.1080/10641963.2023.2233717 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Hypertension)
