Randomized Evaluation of a Remote Management Program to Improve Guideline-directed Medical Therapy: The Diabetes Remote Intervention to Improve Use of Evidence-based Medications (DRIVE) Trial
CONCLUSIONS: In this randomized trial, a remote team-based program that identifies patients with T2D and high CV or kidney risk, provides virtual education, and prescribes SGLT2i or GLP-1 RA improves GDMT. These findings support greater utilization of virtual team-based approaches to optimize chronic disease management.PMID:38583146 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.124.069494 (Source: Circulation)

Clinical Impact of Routine Assessment of Patient-Reported Health Status in Heart Failure Clinic
CONCLUSIONS: Routine PRO assessment in HF clinic visits did not impact patient-reported quality of life or other clinical outcomes. Alternate strategies and settings for embedding PROs into routine clinical care should be tested.PMID:38583147 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.124.069624 (Source: Circulation)

Implementation Science to Achieve Equity in Heart Failure Care: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association
Circulation. 2024 Apr 3. doi: 10.1161/CIR.0000000000001231. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGuideline-directed medical therapies and guideline-directed nonpharmacological therapies improve quality of life and survival in patients with heart failure (HF), but eligible patients, particularly women and individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, are often not treated with these therapies. Implementation science uses evidence-based theories and frameworks to identify strategies that facilitate uptake of evidence to improve health. In this scientific statement, we provide an overview of implementation trials in HF...

Association Between Chest Compression Pause Duration and Survival After Pediatric In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest
CONCLUSIONS: Each 5-second increment in longest CC pause duration during pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest was associated with lower chance of survival with favorable neurological outcome, survival to hospital discharge, and return of spontaneous circulation. Any CC pause >10 seconds or >20 seconds and number of pauses >10 seconds and >20 seconds were significantly associated with lower adjusted probability of return of spontaneous circulation, but not survival or neurological outcomes.PMID:38563137 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.066882 (Source: Circulation)

BRCC3 Regulation of ALK2 in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells: Implication in Pulmonary Hypertension
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest a pivotal role of BRCC3 in sustaining pulmonary vascular homeostasis by maintaining the integrity of the BMP signaling (ie, the ALK2-Smad1/5-PPARγ axis) while suppressing TGF-β signaling in PASMCs. Such rebalance of BMP/TGF-β pathways is translationally important for PAH alleviation.PMID:38557054 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.066430 (Source: Circulation)
