The ACRA Anatomy Study (Assessment of Disability After Coronary Procedures Using Radial Access): A Comprehensive Anatomic and Functional Assessment of the Vasculature of the Hand and Relation to Outcome After Transradial Catheterization [Cardiac Catheterization]
Conclusions— Although incompleteness of the SPA is common, digital blood supply is always preserved by a complete deep palmar arch. Preprocedural patency tests have thus no added benefit to prevent ischemic complications of the hand. Finally, incompleteness of the SPA is not associated with a loss of upper-extremity function after transradial catheterization. (Source: Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions)

Predicting Mortality After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: External Validation of the Transcatheter Valve Therapy Registry Model [Structural Heart Disease]
Conclusions— In a large, multicenter, non-US cohort of patients with transcatheter aortic valve replacement, the validation of the TVT registry model demonstrated moderate discrimination and good calibration for the prediction of in-hospital and 30-day mortality. As a result, the TVT registry model should be considered an alternative to the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Predicted Risk of Mortality score for decision making and assessment of early outcome in patients eligible for transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Efficacy of the RADPAD Protection Drape in Reducing Operators Radiation Exposure in the Catheterization Laboratory: A Sham-Controlled Randomized Trial [Cardiac Catheterization]
Conclusions— In clinical daily practice, the standard use of the RADPAD radiation shield reduced operator radiation exposure compared with procedures with NOPAD or SHAMPAD. This study supports the routine use of RADPAD in the catheterization laboratory. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT03139968. Thrombus Aspiration for ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction in Modern Era: Still an Issue of Debate? [Contemporary Reviews in Interventional Cardiology]
The role of manual thrombus aspiration (TA) during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) for acute ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction has been a matter of intense research and debate now. Although recent randomized controlled clinical trials (notably TASTE [Thrombus Aspiration in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction in Scandinavia] and TOTAL [Trial of Routine Aspiration Thrombectomy With PCI Versus PCI Alone in Patients With STEMI]) do not supply evidence supporting the routine use of TA in patients with ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction, manual TA remains a therapeutic option for int...

Peripheral Artery Disease and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Outcomes: A Report From the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/American College of Cardiology Transcatheter Therapy Registry [Structural Heart Disease]
Conclusions— PAD is common among patients undergoing commercial TAVR via transfemoral and nontransfemoral access. Among patients undergoing transfemoral TAVR, PAD is associated with a higher incidence of 1-year adverse outcomes compared with absence of PAD. Influence of Contrast Media Dose and Osmolality on the Diagnostic Performance of Contrast Fractional Flow Reserve [Coronary Physiologic Assessment and Imaging]
Conclusions— The overall accuracy of cFFR is greater than instantaneous wave–free ratio and distal pressure/aortic pressure and not significantly affected by contrast volume and osmolality. However, contrast volume and osmolality do affect the sensitivity and specificity of cFFR. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT02184117.
