Pregnancy and the Risk of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection: An Analysis of 120 Contemporary Cases [Coronary Artery Disease]
Conclusions— Pregnancy-associated spontaneous coronary artery dissection is commonly associated with left anterior descending, left main, and multivessel involvement, which leads to a high incidence of reduced ejection fraction, and life-threatening maternal and fetal complications. Percutaneous coronary intervention is associated with low success rate and high likelihood of complications, and coronary artery bypass surgery is often required. Recurrent ischemic events because of persistent or new spontaneous coronary artery dissection are common during long-term follow-up. (Source: Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions)

Platelet Reactivity and Clinical Outcomes After Coronary Artery Implantation of Drug-Eluting Stents in Subjects With Peripheral Arterial Disease: Analysis From the ADAPT-DES Study (Assessment of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy With Drug-Eluting Stents) [Coronary Artery Disease]
Conclusions— A history of PAD was associated with ischemic and bleeding outcomes 2 years after successful coronary drug-eluting stent implantation; however, these associations did not seem to be directly mediated by heightened platelet reactivity. Independent Modular Filter for Embolic Protection in Carotid Stenting [Peripheral Vascular Disease]
Conclusions— The data suggest that independent modular filter use in carotid artery stenting in high surgical risk patients is safe and effective. The outcomes suggest that use of an independent modular filter may be associated with a lower rate of embolic complications associated with carotid stent placement. Effects of Renal Artery Denervation on Ventricular Arrhythmias in a Postinfarct Model [New Techniques]
Conclusions— RDN in the infarcted pig model leads to reduction of postinfarction VAs and myocardial sympathetic effectors. This may form the basis for a potential therapeutic role of RDN in postinfarct VAs. (Source: Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions)

Invasive Assessment of the Coronary Microcirculation in Reperfused ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients: Where Do We Stand? [Contemporary Reviews in Interventional Cardiology]
For patients presenting with an acute ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction, the most effective therapy for reducing myocardial infarct size and preserving left ventricular systolic function is primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). However, mortality and morbidity remain significant. This is partly attributed to the development of microvascular obstruction, which occurs in around 50% of ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction patients post-PPCI, and it is associated with adverse left ventricular remodeling and worse clinical outcomes. Although microvascular obstruction can be detected by ca...
