Review for N2 Sub-staging in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Patients with N2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were heterogeneous groups and required further stratification. The International Society for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) divided N2 into three sub-stages: N2 at a single station without N1 involvement (N2a1), N2 at a single station with N1 involvement (N2a2), and N2 at multiple stations (N2b). These new descriptors significantly distinguished the overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and recurrence pattern of patients with different N2 sub-stages. The OS and DFS of N2a1 were not sufficiently distinguished from N1 at multiple stations (N1b). The OS and D...

Advances in the Study of Tissue-resident Memory T Cells in Lung Cancer
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been widely used in the treatment of lung cancer, but the benefit population is limited and there is a lack of effective predictive markers of efficacy. Tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) reside in tissues and exert anti-tumor effects by expressing the integrins CD103, CD49a or C-type lectin CD69 and immune checkpoint receptors. TRM expressing programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) is enriched with transcriptional products associated with cytotoxicity and enhances T cell (antigen) receptor (TCR)-mediated cytotoxicity. TRM is a promising biomarker for predicting the efficacy and prognosis ...

Correlation Analysis of Ki67 Expression and EGFR Mutation on the Risk of Recurrence and Metastasis in Postoperative Patients with Stage I Lung Adenocarcinoma
Background and objective The prognosis of stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is generally good. However, some of the stage I NSCLC patients still may have early recurrence and metastasis, and there is no standard method to screen this part of the population. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between Ki67 expression as well as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation and the risk of recurrence in postoperative patients with stage I lung adenocarcinoma. Methods We retrospectively enrolled 118 postoperative patients with stage I lung adenocarcinoma. EGFR mutation was tested using amplifi...

STE029 Overcomes EGFR-TKI Resistance in Human Lung Adenocarcinoma
This study aimed to investigate the reversal mechanism of EGFR-TKI resistance by STE029 in lung adenocarcinoma. Methods CCK8 test was used to test the cell viability and survival rate of EGFR mutated PC9 cell (Gefitinib sensitive), PC9/BB4 cell (acquired Gefitinib resistant), and EGFR wild type A549 cell after treatment of STE029, Gefitinib or combination of both. EdU test was applied to detect changes in cell cycle and Hoechst 33258 was applied to detect apoptosis rate in overcoming the EGFR-TKI resistance. The activity of EGFR/PI3K/Akt, cell cycle and apoptosis signal pathways were examined. In vivo, nude mice were expos...

Two Cases of TKI-resistant Small Cell Lung Cancer Transformation
in Advanced Adenocarcinoma and Literature Review
Treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation with EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) can achieve good disease control, but it will inevitably produce drug resistance. About 3%-10% of the resistance mechanism is small cell transformation. Two cases of stage IV lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation were reported and the disease was controlled after EGFR-TKIs treatment. In case 1, progression-free survival (PFS) before small cell carcinoma transformation was 16 months, and in case 2, PFS before small cell carcinoma transformation was 24 month...

Research Progress of Immune Checkpoint TIGIT in Lung Cancer Immunotherapy
T cell immunoreceptor with immunoglobulin and immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibition motif domain (TIGIT) is a newly discovered immune checkpoint molecule, mainly expressed on the surface of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. By binding to cluster of differentiation 155 (CD155) and other ligands, it inhibits T cell and NK cell-mediated immune responses and affects the tumor microenvironment. Multiple preclinical studies have demonstrated that the TIGIT/CD155 pathway plays a role in a variety of solid and hematological tumors. Clinical trials investigating TIGIT inhibitors alone or in combination with programmed cell ...

Investigation of Methods and Influencing Factors to Increase the Positive Rate of
Cytological Pathology of Cerebrospinal Fluid from Lung Cancer Leptomeningeal Metastases
Background and objective In advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), leptomeningeal metastases (LM) is a common consequence with rapid progression and a poor prognosis. LM affects roughly 3% to 5% of NSCLC patients, and it affects as many as 9.4% of individuals with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. Cerebrospinal fluid cytology is the gold standard for diagnosing LM, while conventional cytopathology has a positive detection rate of less than 50%, resulting in a delay in diagnosis and treatment of LM. The fixation treatment of cerebrospinal fluid samples has a significant impact on the positive cytology...

Consensus on Postoperative Recurrence Prediction of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Based on Molecular Markers
Significant progress has been made in lung cancer screening, surgery, chemoradiation, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy recently. Surgical resection is the most important treatment for localized non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) so far, but there are still many patients who develop local recurrence or distant metastases within 5 years of surgery. Currently, the risk factors of recurrence in patients with NSCLC are mainly based on clinical and pathological features, which hardly identify patients at high risk of recurrence accurately. With the development of new detection technologies, a number of molecular markers that ...

Research Progress in the Effect of Consolidation Tumor Ratio
on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Early-stage Peripheral Lung Cancer
Consolidation tumor ratio (CTR) is a hot issue in lung cancer imaging studies in recent years. It is defined as the proportion of the maximum consolidation diameter divided by the maximum tumor diameter in the lung window scanned by high resolution computed tomography (HRCT). Many studies have also confirmed that it can be used as an indicator to identify whether a lung tumor is benign or malignant at the early stage, the main basis on which to decide whether sublobectomy can be performed, and is an independent factor for the recurrence and prognosis of early-stage lung cancer. Especially after tumor size and CTR results o...
