Longitudinal predictors of children's self-blame appraisals among military families reported for family violence
CONCLUSION: Findings suggest clinicians and researchers may consider assessment of victimization characteristics, caregiver-child relationships, and depression symptoms to identify children most at risk for developing self-blame appraisals.PMID:38071942 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2023.106596 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

Conceptualising and challenging child neglect in humanitarian action: Protecting displaced children in Jordan and Palestine
CONCLUSION: Caregivers in our study illustrated the impossibility of exercising constant vigilance over children within conditions of extreme social and economic marginalisation. Thoroughgoing debate about child neglect is needed to address this situation and ensure that caregivers receive adequate support to meet their children's needs. Such support should be offered in a manner that upholds the dignity of displaced people - adults and children alike.PMID:38070216 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2023.106539 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

Associations between mental health problems and Adverse Childhood Experiences ACEs in indigenous and non-indigenous Mexican adolescents
CONCLUSIONS: ACEs were experienced similarly by both groups and were associated with mental health in all participants. Further research is needed to improve ACEs measurement in indigenous populations.PMID:38061280 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2023.106595 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

Child sexual abuse by different classes and types of perpetrator: Prevalence and trends from an Australian national survey
CONCLUSIONS: CSA by adults has declined, indicating positive impacts of prevention efforts. However, CSA by adolescents has increased. Further declines in CSA by adults are required and possible. Targeted prevention of CSA by adolescents must be prioritised.PMID:38061281 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2023.106562 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

"We are not our case files": A qualitative analysis of child welfare professionals' relationships with young adults with foster care experience
CONCLUSIONS: The study underscores the importance of promoting positive mental health outcomes for young adults through building stronger connections with child welfare professionals. Future research should explore the incorporation of individualized approaches to better serve this population of young adults.PMID:38056035 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2023.106569 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

A systematic review of factors associated with disclosure of child sexual abuse
CONCLUSIONS: The findings can inform future research and practice by providing a comprehensive understanding of the predictors of CSA disclosure and highlighting the importance of considering the socio-ecological context when interpreting findings. Moreover, the review provides a valuable resource for professionals who work with victims of CSA, helping them better identify factors that may facilitate or hinder disclosure and allowing for tailored interventions.PMID:38056036 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2023.106564 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)
