FEN1-assisted DNA logic amplifier circuit for fast and compact DNA computing
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 5. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00203b. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis work developed DNA amplifier logic gates (AND-OR, OR-AND, FAN-IN, FAN-OUT, and 4-bit square-root circuits) using a flap endonuclease 1 (FEN1)-catalyzed signal amplification reaction, for the fastest and compact DNA computing. Moreover, the logic circuit can use input strands with concentrations of less than 1 nM, which is more than 100 times lower than the input concentration of other DNA logic circuits, providing a promising methodology for constructing fast and compact DNA computations.PMID:38577866 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc00203b (Sourc...

Highly substituted benzo[ < em > b < /em > ]furan synthesis through substituent migration
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 5. doi: 10.1039/d4cc01192a. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAn unusual benzofuran synthesis from 2,6-disubstituted phenols and alkynyl sulfoxides is disclosed. Various highly substituted benzofurans were synthesized via the charge-accelerated [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement and subsequent substituent migration. Multiaryl-substituted benzofurans and fully substituted benzofurans were prepared on the basis of the unique reaction mechanism.PMID:38578172 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc01192a (Source: Chemical Communications)

The innovative design of high-performance layered transition metal oxides for sodium-ion batteries from a commercial perspective
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00831f. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSodium-ion batteries (SIBs), which have ample reserves and low production costs, are receiving more and more attention. As promising cathode candidates, layered transition metal oxides (LTMOs) have attracted intensive interest for their nontoxicity, high theoretical capacities, ease of manufacture, suitable voltage, abundant resources, and potential low cost. However, the commercial implementation of LTMOs is still hampered by their low rate capability, low energy density, insufficient cycling stability, and air instability. Therefore, t...

Synthesis and optical properties of antimony(V) complexes of a trianionic N < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 2 < /sub > -type tetradentate dipyrrin ligand
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00630e. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLSbCl2, an air- and moisture-stable antimony(V)-dipyrrin complex at room temperature, was obtained by treating an excess amount (20 eq.) of SbCl3 with a trianionic N2O2-type tetradentate dipyrrin ligand (L) under visible-light irradiation and O2 atmosphere. The Cl ligands in LSbCl2 were replaced by OH ligands via hydrolysis, yielding LSb(OH)2. Further, the molecular structures and optical properties of the Sb(V)-dippyrin complexes were investigated. While LSbCl2 was non-fluorescent, LSb(OH)2 exhibited an intense red fluorescence with a p...

Novel application of imidazole-based ligand-templated borates in a zinc-air battery
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00206g. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTwo templated borates, [Co(1-EI)2]·[B5O7(OH)3] (1) and [Ga(1-MI)2·B6O9(OH)4]·[H3BO3]·H[1-MI] (2), have been synthesized using a mild method. Notably, they exhibit an excellent ORR performance with an E1/2 value of 0.84 V and are the first to be used as the positive electrode catalyst for a zinc-air battery, which opens a pathway for the application of borate-based oxide catalysts.PMID:38572604 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc00206g (Source: Chemical Communications)

Primer exchange reaction-coupled transcription isothermal amplification as a sensitive biomolecular assay
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00665h. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe devised a novel strategy that relies on a combination of the primer exchange reaction (PER) with transcription isothermal amplification, termed PER-Trap, for a sensitive biomolecular assay. Its design allowed light-up RNA aptamers to be produced as the final product, leading to the generation of an amplified fluorescence signal. The utility of PER-Trap was successfully demonstrated by the detection of exosomes.PMID:38572617 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc00665h (Source: Chemical Communications)

Phenylglycine amphiphile-metal ion chiral supramolecular nanozymes for enantioselective catalysis
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00637b. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTL/D-Phenylglycine amphiphiles and metal ions with peroxidase-like activity self-assembled into chiral nanoribbons, which act as efficient chiral supramolecular nanozymes for catalyzing the 3,4-dihydroxy-L/D-phenylalanine (L/D-DOPA) oxidation reactions. The catalytic efficiency and enantioselectivity are dominated by the chirality transfer and the synergistic effect between the metal ions and chiral nanoribbons.PMID:38572692 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc00637b (Source: Chemical Communications)

Photo-induced tungsten-catalyzed cascade synthesis of pyrrolo[2,1- < em > a < /em > ]isoquinoline-1,3-dicarboxylate and its reaction mechanism
This article describes a tungsten-catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition aromatization of dihydroisoquinoline ester and maleic anhydride or an acrylate. The photochemical reaction tolerates a range of functional groups such as ester, cyano, ketone, bromide, and alkene. It is shown that the cycloaddition-aromatization of 2-substitued acrylate catalyzed by a tungsten photocatalyst can be used to evaluate the leaving ability of the leaving group. Experiments done to determine the reaction mechanism revealed that the formation of an ion-pair intermediate generated in situ from dihydroisoquinoline ester and (Z)-4-methoxy-4-oxobut-2-enoi...

Janus MXene nanosheets with a strain-induced reversible magnetic state transition for storing information without electricity
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 Apr 4. doi: 10.1039/d4cc00112e. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe application of strain induces a transition in the ground-state magnetic configuration of Janus TiVC MXene from A-AFM to FM. A new system and method of solid-state disk information storage without electricity is developed based on the as-discovered reversible magnetic state transition in TiVC, which can achieve efficient storage of information in extremely harsh conditions.PMID:38573313 | DOI:10.1039/d4cc00112e (Source: Chemical Communications)
