Stroke Care during the COVID-19 Pandemic: International Expert Panel Review
This study, prepared by a large international panel of stroke experts, assesses the rapidly growing research and personal experience with COVID-19 stroke and offers recommendations for stroke management in this challenging new setting: modifications needed for prehospital emergency rescue and hyperacute care; inpatient intensive or stroke units; posthospitalization rehabilitation; follow-up including at-risk family and community; and multispecialty departmental developments in the allied professions.Summary: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 uses spike proteins binding to tissue angiotensin-converting enz...

Cognitive Impairment after Lacunar Stroke and the Risk of Recurrent Stroke and Death
Conclusion: After lacunar stroke, memory impairment was an independent predictor of recurrent stroke and death, while global and nonmemory impairment were associated with death. Cognitive screening in lacunar stroke may help identify populations at higher risk of recurrent stroke and death.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

The Role of Amyloid PET in Diagnosing Possible Transmissible Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy in Young Adults with a History of Neurosurgery: A Case Series
Conclusion: Combining the clinical presentation and imaging findings of the 4 cases, we postulate transmissible CAA as the possible diagnosis. Further epidemiological studies are required to gain more insight in the prevalence of this novel entity. Amyloid PET may be a useful, non-invasive tool in these analyses especially since pathological evidence will be lacking in most of these studies.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Case Report: Evaluating Biomechanical Risk Factors in Carotid Stenosis by Patient-Specific Fluid-Structural Interaction Biomechanical Analysis
Conclusions: Computational biomechanical analysis is a useful tool to provide the biomechanical risk factors to help clinicians assess and predict the patient-specific plaque vulnerability. The FSI computational model coupling the structural and hemodynamic computational analysis, better replicates the in vivo biomechanical condition, which can provide multiple structural and flow-based risk factors to assess plaque vulnerability.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Pre-Stroke Cholinesterase Inhibitor Treatment Is Beneficially Associated with Functional Outcome in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke and Pre-Stroke Dementia: The Fukuoka Stroke Registry
Conclusions: Our findings suggest that pre-stroke ChEI treatment is associated with reduced risks for poor functional outcome and neurological deterioration after acute ischemic stroke in patients with pre-stroke dementia who are independent in basic ADLs before the onset of stroke.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Acute Stroke Care during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Reduction in the Number of Admissions of Elderly Patients and Increase in Prehospital Delays
Conclusion: We observed a reduction in the number of acute strokes and TIAs admitted during the COVID-19 period. This drop affected especially elderly patients, and despite a delay in their arrival to the emergency department, the proportion of patients treated with recanalization therapies was preserved.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Impact of Mediterranean Diet prior to Stroke on the Prognosis of Patients Undergoing Endovascular Treatment
Conclusions: Our study suggests that some components of MeDiet, such as olive oil and wine consumption, are related to better prognosis after stroke. More studies are needed to confirm these findings.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Tissue Sodium Concentration within White Matter Correlates with the Extent of Small Vessel Disease
Conclusion: The significant difference in absolute TSC in WM in patients with severe small vessel disease; Fazekas grade 3 can lead to inaccuracies using rTSC quantification for evaluation of acute ischemic stroke using23 Na MRI. The study, therefore, emphasizes the importance of absolute tissue sodium quantification.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Clinical Factors Associated with the Risk of Intracranial Aneurysm Rupture in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease
Conclusion: In the present study among patients with ADPKD, the prevalence of intracranial aneurysms and aneurysmal SAH was 16 and 1.2%, respectively. Age, female sex, dolichoectasia, and mitral inflow DT were positively associated with high-risk aneurysms, whereas hypercholesterolemia was negatively associated. A subsequent large-scaled longitudinal study is needed to define the plausibility of the clinical parameters.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Bridging Therapy and Occlusion Site Influence Symptomatic Hemorrhage Rate after Thrombectomy: A Daily Practice Study in 623 Stroke Patients
Conclusions: In this clinical series, the SICH rate was higher in patients treated with BT than in those treated with PMT. Relevant differences in baseline (related to IVT contraindications) were found between both groups. Randomized studies of BT versus PMT in populations with similar baseline characteristics might be of interest.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Gamma Knife Radiosurgery for Incidental, Symptomatic Unruptured, and Ruptured Brain Arteriovenous Malformations
Conclusions: There is a significant difference in clinical and anatomical characteristics between incidental, symptomatic unruptured, and ruptured AVMs. The obliteration rate after GKS is not significantly different between the 3 groups. Meanwhile, an older age at diagnosis and lower hemorrhage rate after GKS in incidental AVMs suggest that they have a more indolent natural course with a lower life-long risk of hemorrhage.Cerebrovasc Dis (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases)
