Ultrasound Contrast Agent Priming of Biopsy and Introducer Needles by Using a Small Syringe to Improve Needle Visibility in a Phantom Model
ConclusionThe ultrasound contrast agent needle priming methods described increased the contrast-specific imaging-mode needle visibility in a phantom model. Nonetheless, the results also need to be confirmed in vivo. (Source: CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology)

Transarterial Embolization for Refractory Overuse Sports Injury: Pictorial Case Reports
AbstractTransarterial embolization for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal diseases is gaining increasing interest in the field of interventional radiology. Overuse sports injury is defined as an injury occurring in the absence of a single, identifiable traumatic cause. In the treatment of this condition, there is a need for reliable results and a quick return to activity. Minimally invasive treatments with short periods of missed practice are required. Intra-arterial embolization has the potential to meet this need. In this article, we describe cases of embolization for refractory overuse sports injuries including pa...

Safety and Efficacy of Percutaneous Liver Microwave Ablation Using a Fully Water-Cooled Choke Ring Antenna: First Multicenter Clinical Report
ConclusionPromising results were reported for this MWA device. The high spherical index, reproducibility, and predictability of the resulting treatment zones translated to a high percentage of adequate safety margins, providing good local control rate. Preoperative Embolization of Primary Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma: Is Embolization of Internal Carotid Artery Branches Necessary?
ConclusionThe results of this small series suggest that the presence of blood supply from ICA branches in primary JNA has no significant effect on intraoperative blood loss, adverse event, residual and postoperative recurrence. Therefore, we do not recommend routine  preoperative embolization of ICA branches.Level of EvidenceLevel 4, Case –control.Graphical Abstract (Source: CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology)

The Effect of Microwave and Radiofrequency Ablation (MWA/RFA) on Liver Volume in Patients with Primary and Secondary Liver Tumours: A Retrospective Analysis
ConclusionIn patients with secondary liver tumours, ALV and segments II/III increased after MWA/RFA by an average of approximately 6%, while ALV in patients with primary liver lesions remained unchanged. Besides the curative intent, these findings indicate the potential added benefit of thermal liver ablation on FLR hypertrophy inducing procedures in patients with secondary liver lesions.Level of evidence Level 3, non-controlled retrospective cohort study.Graphical abstract (Source: CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology)

Unresectable Intermediate-Size (3 –5 cm) Colorectal Liver Metastases: Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy Versus Microwave Ablation (COLLISION-XL): Protocol of a Phase II/III Multicentre Randomized Controlled Trial
The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of MWA to SBRT in patients with unresectable, intermediate-size (3–5 cm) CRLM.MethodsIn this two-arm, multicentre phase  II/ III randomized controlled trial, 68 patients with 1–3 unresectable, intermediate-size CRLM suitable for both MWA and SBRT, will be included. Patients will be treated with MWA or SBRT as randomised. The Primary endpoint is local tumour progression-free survival (LTPFS) at 1 year (intention-t o-treat analysis). Main secondary endpoints are overall survival, overall and distant progression-free survival (DPFS), local control (LC) and procedur...
