Dapagliflozin in a Real-World Chronic Heart Failure Population: How Many Are Actually Eligible?
Conclusion: Roughly half of our real-world HFrEF cohort would be eligible for dapagliflozin according to the key criteria of the DAPA-HF trial. The main reason for non-eligibility was an eGFR #x3c;30 mL/min/1.73 m2. However, two-thirds of patients had LVEF #x3e;40%. These findings show that dapagliflozin is a promising complementary new drug in the therapeutic armamentarium of most patients with HFrEF, while highlighting the urgent need for disease-modifying drugs in mid-range and preserved LVEF and the need to assess the efficacy and safety of SLGT2i in advanced kidney disease patients. The results of ongoing SGLT2i trial...

Worsening Renal Function during Index Hospitalization Does Not Predict Prognosis in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction Patients
Conclusions: While there is a high incidence of WRF during index hospitalizations for HFpEF, WRF is not associated with an increased risk of death or hospitalization. This suggests that WRF alone should not influence decisions regarding heart failure management.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Thrombin Generation in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Conclusions: TG potential is high immediately after PCI and decreases 4 weeks after PCI in patients receiving triple therapy. TG remains constant after aspirin withdrawal in most patients, suggesting that after 1 month the antithrombotic effect of dual therapy may be similar to triple therapy.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Prevention of Contrast-Induced Nephropathy by Inferior Vena Cava Ultrasonography-Guided Hydration in Chronic Heart Failure Patients
Conclusion: Our findings support that IVCU-guided hydration is superior to standard hydration in prevention of CIN and may substantially reduce longtime composite major adverse events.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Incremental Value of an Insertable Cardiac Monitor in Patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy with Low or Intermediate Risk for Sudden Cardiac Death
Conclusions: In adults with HCM, an ICM will detect more arrhythmic events requiring an intervention than a conventional Holter strategy. In contrast, the diagnostic yield of detecting VT seems similar for both groups.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Objective Physical Activity Assessment in Clinical Congenital Heart Disease Research: A Systematic Review on Study Quality, Methodology, and Outcomes
Conclusions: Overall study quality was fair at best, and due to difficult methodological comparability of the studies, no clear answer on how active patients with CHD really are can currently be given. Larger studies carefully considering collection and processing criteria, and correct reporting standards exploring PA in patients with CHD from different angles are needed.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Clinical Analysis of Thrombocytopenia following Transcatheter Occlusion of a Patent Ductus Arteriosus
Conclusions: Severe thrombocytopenia following transcatheter occlusion of a PDA may be related to the larger diameter of PDA and residual shunt. If early detection of severe thrombocytopenia is obtained, our study supports a good prognosis if appropriate measures are implemented.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Energy Drink Effects on Hemodynamics and Endothelial Function in Young Adults
Conclusion: Energy drink consumption was associated with an acute significant impairment in endothelial function in young healthy adults as well as with significant hemodynamic changes. As energy drinks are becoming more popular, it is important to study their effects to better determine safe consumption patterns.Cardiology (Source: Cardiology)

Two-Step Distal Radial Artery Cannulation for Challenging Radial Anatomies
The radial artery is the preferred access site for cardiac catheterization because of patient comfort, early ambulation, and improved survival in acute coronary syndromes, when compared to the femoral artery route. However, it is associated with a high radial artery occlusion (RAO) rate, and patent haemostasis which can reduce this is extremely hard to implement in a busy clinical practice. Smaller sized sheaths are associated with less RAO but are uncommonly used as they could limit procedural prowess and complexity. Alternatively, the distal radial artery (dRA) approach appears to be safer with observed RAO rates of well...
