Long-term follow-up of patients with complex coronary artery disease treated with minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass
CONCLUSIONS: Minimally invasive coronary artery bypass procedures are low-risk surgical procedures. If hybrid procedures have been planned, completion of revascularization should be a major goal.PMID:37964645 | DOI:10.5603/cj.94716 (Source: Cardiology Journal)

Hemo-metabolic impairment in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: Data from the INTERSTELLAR registry
CONCLUSIONS: Hemo-metabolic impairment is significantly associated with increased risk of in-hospital and 1-year mortality in patients with STEMI. It remains a significant prognostic factor, regardless of DTB time.PMID:37964646 | DOI:10.5603/cj.93926 (Source: Cardiology Journal)

Diagnostic accuracy of a novel optical coherence tomography-based fractional flow reserve algorithm for assessment of coronary stenosis significance
CONCLUSIONS: This clinical study shows the efficiency and accuracy of AccuFFRoct for clinical implementation when using invasive FFR measurement as a reference. It could provide important insights into coronary imaging superior to current methods based on the degree of coronary artery stenosis.PMID:37964647 | DOI:10.5603/cj.90744 (Source: Cardiology Journal)

Bivalirudin versus heparin in contemporary percutaneous coronary interventions for patients with acute coronary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that bivalirudin use during PCI reduced the risk of NACE and all-cause death but did not reduce the risk of MACE compared with heparin use in PCI. More studies specifically designed for anticoagulation strategies and a personalized anticoagulation regimen to comprehensively balance bleeding and ischemia risks are required.PMID:37964648 | DOI:10.5603/cj.90956 (Source: Cardiology Journal)

Cangrelor - Expanding therapeutic options in patients with acute coronary syndrome
Cardiol J. 2023 Nov 15. doi: 10.5603/cj.96076. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCangrelor is the only intravenous P2Y12 receptor antagonist. It is an adenosine triphosphate analog that selectively, directly, and reversibly binds to the platelet P2Y12 receptors exerting its antiaggregatory effect. Cangrelor is characterized by linear, dose-dependent pharmacokinetics and rapid onset of action providing potent platelet inhibition exceeding 90%. Cangrelor is rapidly metabolized by endothelial endonucleotidase; thus, its half-life is 2.9 to 5.5 min, and its antiplatelet effect subsides within 60 to 90 min. Data originating from th...
