Proposed modifications and incorporation of plasma Epstein ‐Barr virus DNA improve the TNM staging system for Epstein‐Barr virus‐related nasopharyngeal carcinoma
CONCLUSIONSThe proposed stage groupings have better prognostic performance than the eighth edition of the TNM staging system. EBV DNA titers should be included in the TNM staging system to assess patients who have EBV ‐related NPC. (Source: Cancer)

Association between tobacco use, pain expression, and coping strategies among patients with advanced cancer
CONCLUSIONSAmong patients with advanced cancer, current and former smokers appear to be significantly more likely to have higher pain expression and thus require higher opioid doses, and to have more risk factors for using opioids in a nonprescribed manner. The results of the current study highlight the need to provide closer monitoring and increased psychosocial support for patients with cancer who smoke while receiving chronic opioid therapy. The addition of cixutumumab or temozolomide to intensive multiagent chemotherapy is feasible but does not improve outcome for patients with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma
CONCLUSIONSThe addition of cixutumumab or temozolomide to intensive multiagent chemotherapy for metastatic RMS was safe and feasible. Neither agent improved outcome compared with the same chemotherapy that was used on ARST0431. (Source: Cancer)

Disparities in human papillomavirus –related cancer incidence and survival among human immunodeficiency virus–infected hispanics living in the United States
ConclusionsHIV ‐infected Hispanics have an elevated risk for HPV‐related cancers. Similarly to the general population, HIV‐infected Hispanics have higher rates of cervical and penile cancer than NHWs and NHBs. HPV vaccination should be promoted among HIV‐infected individuals to reduce the burden of HPV‐r elated cancers. (Source: Cancer)

A pooled analysis of individual patient data from National Clinical Trials Network clinical trials of concurrent chemoradiotherapy for limited ‐stage small cell lung cancer in elderly patients versus younger patients
ConclusionsElderly patients with LS ‐SCLC have worse PFS and OS and more difficulty in tolerating therapy. Future trials should incorporate assessments of elderly patients, novel monitoring of adverse events, and more tolerable radiation and systemic therapies. (Source: Cancer)
