Rare tumours of the breast
We present here a selection of several rare tumours, providing updated data at the epidemiological, histopathological, genetic, clinical and radiographic, prognostic and therapeutic levels, taking into account the place of radiotherapy. Each tumour histology is unique and has its own characteristics, the management must therefore be adapted as much as possible and decided in a multidisciplinary meeting.PMID:37925348 | DOI:10.1016/j.canrad.2023.09.002 (Source: Cancer Radiotherapie)

Clinical trials that will change practices: News in palliative radiotherapy
Cancer Radiother. 2023 Oct 25:S1278-3218(23)00218-4. doi: 10.1016/j.canrad.2023.08.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPalliative radiotherapy is used to alleviate cancer-related symptoms. Symptomatic responses to palliative radiotherapy may however take several weeks, meaning that patients need to survive long enough to derive a real benefit. Oncologists can be optimistic when estimating survival for patients with advanced cancer and as a consequence some patients receiving palliative radiotherapy die before experiencing any gain. Models of patient survival have limited accuracy, particularly for predicting whether patient...

Last year of residency for radiation oncologists in France: Overview and perspectives
CONCLUSION: These results relating to the first class of junior doctors showed an overall agreement with the recommendations of the Cnec. Feedback from interns was positive. The supervision of brachytherapy and dosimetry activities, the presence alone in multidisciplinary panel remained points of vigilance.PMID:37891037 | DOI:10.1016/j.canrad.2023.08.003 (Source: Cancer Radiotherapie)

Survey by SFRO, SNRO and AFPPE about the evolution of the radiation therapist profession in France
CONCLUSION: This survey shows: (i) A significant involvement of radiation therapists in the task shifting; (ii) A very strong demand for career development, in particular with existing degrees or to be created degree such as advanced practice; and (iii) The need to reinforce a job satisfaction for almost the half of the respondents, linked to a workload, a mental load and some organisational difficulties.PMID:37891038 | DOI:10.1016/j.canrad.2023.07.013 (Source: Cancer Radiotherapie)
