Transcriptomic Microenvironment of Lung Adenocarcinoma
Conclusions: This study describes the transcriptomic microenvironment of lung adenocarcinoma and adjacent nontumor lung tissues collected at standardized distances relative to the tumor. Impact: This study provides further insights about the molecular transitions that occur from normal tissue to lung adenocarcinoma and is an important step to develop biomarkers in nonmalignant lung tissues. Systemic Levels of Estrogens and PGE2 Synthesis in Relation to Postmenopausal Breast Cancer Risk
Conclusions: Urinary levels of PGE-M and estrogens were independently associated with future risk of developing breast cancer among these postmenopausal women. Impact: Increased breast cancer risk associated with PGE-M might not be fully explained by the estrogens–breast cancer association alone but also by additional effects related to inflammation. Cancer Mortality in Hispanic Ethnic Groups
Conclusions: Compared with other Hispanic groups, Cubans and Puerto Ricans had significantly higher rates. For these longer-established populations in the United States, increases in diet and obesity-related cancers are evident. Some groups show excesses that clearly fall out of the common Hispanic patterns, with implications for public health: Cubans for colorectal cancer, Puerto Ricans for liver cancer, and Dominicans for prostate cancer. Impact: Cancer mortality outcomes in Hispanics vary between ethnic groups. Research and public health strategies should consider this heterogeneity. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 26...

Effects of Exercise on Insulin, IGF Axis, Adipocytokines, and Inflammatory Markers in Breast Cancer Survivors: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Conclusions: Exercise reduces fasting insulin levels in breast cancer survivors. This may be due to exercise-induced reductions in body weight. Impact: Practitioners and clinicians may better help breast cancer prognosis be improved through exercise, anticipating physiological effects on cancer. Early Life Residence, Fish Consumption, and Risk of Breast Cancer
Conclusions: Our findings suggest that very high fish consumption in early to midlife may be associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer. Impact: Very high fish consumption in early adulthood to midlife may be associated with decreased risk of breast cancer. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 26(3); 346–54. ©2016 AACR. Prediagnosis Leukocyte Telomere Length and Risk of Ovarian Cancer
Conclusions: Our prospective findings suggest that longer circulating LTL may be associated with a lower ovarian cancer risk, especially for nonserous and rapidly fatal cases. The evaluation of LTL in relation to ovarian cancer risk by tumor subtypes is warranted in larger prospective studies. Impact: Prediagnosis LTL may reflect an early event in the ovarian cancer development and could serve as a biomarker to predict future risk. DNA Methylation-Derived Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio: An Epigenetic Tool to Explore Cancer Inflammation and Outcomes
Conclusions: These results mean that our current understanding of mature leukocyte methylomes is sufficient to allow researchers and clinicians to apply epigenetically based analyses of NLR in clinical and epidemiologic studies of cancer risk and survival. Impact: As cytologic measurements of NLR are not always possible (i.e., archival blood), mdNLR, which is computed from DNA methylation signatures alone, has the potential to expand the scope of epigenome-wide association studies. History of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and Risk of Incident Invasive Breast Cancer among Parous Women in the Nurses' Health Study II Prospective Cohort
Conclusions: Among a large cohort of U.S. women, history of GDM was not associated with an elevated risk of subsequent invasive breast cancer. Impact: Our findings highlight the need to further investigate GDM's role in breast cancer development. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 26(3); 321–7. ©2016 AACR. Adolescents and Young Adults with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Acute Myeloid Leukemia: Impact of Care at Specialized Cancer Centers on Survival Outcome
Conclusions: Poor survival in AYAs with ALL and AML is mitigated by care at CCC/COG. Barriers to CCC/COG care include public/uninsured, and African American/Hispanic race/ethnicity. Impact: Care at CCC/COG explains, in part, inferior outcomes in AYAs with ALL and AML. Key sociodemographic factors serve as barriers to care at specialized centers. HIV Infection and Survival of Lymphoma Patients in the Era of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy
Conclusions: HIV/AIDS continues to be independently associated with increased risk of death among patients with lymphoma in the HAART era in the United States, and the association varies by lymphoma histologic subtype. Impact: Examination of effective management strategies for patients with HIV/AIDS-associated lymphoma and enrollment of patients in prospective clinical trials are needed to improve patient outcomes. Abstract C92: [Advocate Abstract:] The Disparity of Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices in College-Age Women 18-26 years old
Background: In 2006, two vaccinations with guidelines were released to prevent against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and was recommended for all females' ages 11-12. Updated guidelines target females ages 11-12, and encourage catch up vaccinations for ages 13-26. The original recommendations by the CDC and other medical professionals did not address females ages 14-26. In 2006, females ages 14-26 were not recommended to receive the vaccination but were and still are the highest risk population for contracting HPV. During the ages of 14-26 years old, most females begin sexual intercourse and become vulnerable to sexually ...

Abstract C91: Understanding practices, perceptions, and likelihood of recommending the HPV vaccine among doctors in rural eastern North Carolina
Conclusion: Results provide a better understanding about specific practices and perceptions regarding HPV vaccines among doctors that may influence their recommendation practices. Our data suggests a need for provider training regarding HPV vaccine recommendation and patient-provider STI communication strategies.Citation Format: Shawna O'Rorke, Essie torres, Alice Richman.
