Circulating miR-10b, soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor, and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 as predictors of non-small cell lung cancer progression and treatment response
Cancer Biomark. 2023 Nov 15. doi: 10.3233/CBM-220222. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Despite advances in lung cancer treatment, most lung cancers are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Expression of microRNA10b (miR-10b) and fibrinolytic activity, as reflected by soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) and plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1), are promising biomarker candidates.OBJECTIVE: To assess the expression of miR-10b, and serum levels of suPAR and PAI-1 in advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, and their correlation with progression, treatment response and prog...

Upregulation of MED7 was associated with progression in hepatocellular carcinoma
CONCLUSION: MED7 was upregulated in HCC and correlated with progression of HCC. Meanwhile, MED7 may promote HCC through participating in multiple gene networks to influence tumorigenesis as well as immune response in HCC microenvironment.PMID:38073375 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-220439 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

A comprehensive analysis of mRNA expression profiles of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma reveals downregulation of Desmoglein 1  and crucial genomic targets
CONCLUSION: We identified novel perturbed genes in relation to ESCC and explored their interaction network. DSG1 is one such gene, its association with microbiota and a clinical presentation seen commonly with ESCC hints that it is a good candidate for early diagnostic marker. Besides, in this study we highlight candidate genes and their molecular connections to risk factors, biological pathways, drug chemicals, and the survival probability of ESCC patients.PMID:38073377 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230145 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

Diagnostic and prognostic utility of TROP-2, SLP-2, and CXCL12 expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma
CONCLUSION: mRNA expression of TROP-2, SPL-2, and CXCL12 among PTC cases increased in larger tumor size, tumor stages III and IV, and LN metastasis. Moreover, there was an increase in CXCL-12 gene expression among PTC cases with extra-thyroid extension. Thus, TROP-2, SPL-2, and CXCL12 expressions could be possible diagnostic and prognostic markers in PTC.PMID:38073379 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230230 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

Elevated expression patterns of P-element Induced Wimpy Testis (PIWI) transcripts are potential candidate markers for Hepatocellular Carcinoma
CONCLUSION: PIWIL mRNAs are overexpressed in HCC tissue and serum samples, the expression patterns could be valuable molecular markers for HCC, due to their association with age, tumour grade and pattern. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first to report the expression levels of all PIWIL mRNA and to suggest their remarkable values as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, in addition to their correlation to HCC development. Additionally, a therapeutic opportunity might be also suggested through in silico miRNA prediction for HCC and PIWIL genes through DDX4 and miR-124-3p.PMID:38043006 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230134...
