miRNA profiling of esophageal adenocarcinoma using transcriptome analysis
Cancer Biomark. 2024 Jan 10. doi: 10.3233/CBM-230170. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEsophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) occurs following a series of histological changes through epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). A variable expression of normal and aberrant genes in the tissue can contribute to the development of EAC through the activation or inhibition of critical molecular signaling pathways. Gene expression is regulated by various regulatory factors, including transcription factors and microRNAs (miRs). The exact profile of miRs associated with the pathogenesis of EAC is largely unknown, though some candidate miRNAs h...

The combined detection of hematological indicators is used for the differential diagnosis of colorectal cancer and benign-colorectal lesions
CONCLUSIONS: Hb/RDW, CAR, PCT, and CEA are independent risk factors for CRC. Hb/RDW, CAR, and PCT combined with CEA have significant value for auxiliary differential diagnosis of CRC and BCL.PMID:38217586 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230157 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

KLF5 inhibits the migration and invasion in cervical cancer cell lines by regulating SNAI1
CONCLUSION: These results indicate that KLF5 can downregulate the EMT process of HeLa cells by decreasing the expression of the SNAI1 gene, thereby inhibiting the migration and invasion of HeLa cervical cancer cells.PMID:38217587 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230175 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

The importance of biglycan, decorin and TGF-1 levels in the diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer
CONCLUSION: The decreased serum decorin level is an independent marker for NSCLC. Further studies are needed to investigate the prognostic significance of decorin on survival and its potential as a target in treatment.PMID:38217588 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230238 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

Can serum ferritin serve as a biomarker for the prognosis of gynecological malignant tumors? A retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: Although this study did not find serum ferritin to be a significant independent prognosis indicator in gynecological malignant tumors, this study did identify that gynecological malignant tumor patients with high serum ferritin levels have significantly less survival time than patients with low or normal serum ferritin levels.PMID:38160345 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-230040 (Source: Cancer Biomarkers)

Breast cancer detection employing stacked ensemble model with convolutional features
This study proposes the use of an ensemble model to provide accurate detection of breast cancer. The proposed model uses the random forest and support vector classifier along with automatic feature extraction using an optimized convolutional neural network (CNN). Extensive experiments are performed using the original, as well as, CNN-based features to analyze the performance of the deployed models. Experimental results involving the use of the Wisconsin dataset reveal that CNN-based features provide better results than the original features. It is observed that the proposed model achieves an accuracy of 99.99% for breast c...
