Validation of preloaded DMEK donor tissues: a laboratory-based study on endothelial cell viability and comparison of two F-mark inks
CONCLUSION: Preloaded DMEK donor tissues resulted in an acceptable ECL range after 1 and 5 days of storage and were deemed suitable for transplantation. Both F-mark inks are acceptable for prestamping preloaded DMEK tissues prior to surgical transplantation with comparable ECL and intensities.PMID:38513716 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2024.02.012 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

T1D and T2D predispose to higher Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates following cataract surgery: analysis of 53,471 consecutive cases
CONCLUSION: In our large cohort study, patients with T1D and T2D were predisposed to high risk for Nd:YAG capsulotomy following cataract surgery. This study may be beneficial and raise awareness regarding the assessment of posterior capsular opacification development in pseudophakic diabetic patients, particularly those with T1D. The significance of ophthalmology screening for diabetes individuals is further supported by this issue.PMID:38513717 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2024.02.014 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Efficacy comparison of combining cross-linking and refractive laser ablation in progressive keratoconus: a network meta-analysis of short-term outcomes and systemic review
CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that combining refractive laser ablation techniques with standard or accelerated CXL treatment improved visual and refractive outcomes and anterior corneal curvature values.PMID:38513713 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2024.02.017 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)
