A large health system's emergency department's evaluation of nurse triage questions about safe-at-home and abuse or neglect in traumatic ocular injuries
CONCLUSION: Traumatic ocular injuries in emergency departments should raise concerns about IPV. Opportunity exists to improve education, screening, and management of these patients.PMID:38008128 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.10.023 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Intralesional or intraorbital rituximab injection for the management of biopsy-proven idiopathic orbital inflammation involving the lacrimal gland
CONCLUSION: Intralesional rituximab injection may be an effective treatment for IOI involving the lacrimal gland, achieving a 78% complete response rate in this series. Local treatment with rituximab has the potential to avoid the ocular and systemic side effects of corticosteroid and systemic immunosuppressive treatment.PMID:37995759 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.10.016 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Long-term effect of fluid volumes during the maintenance phase in neovascular age-related macular degeneration in the real world: results from Fight Retinal Blindness!
DISCUSSION: Patients with high macular fluid after initial treatment are at risk of losing vision that may not be compensable with higher treatment frequency for IRF. Higher treatment frequency for SRF and PED may result in comparable treatment outcomes. Quantification of macular fluid in all compartments is essential to detect eyes at risk of aggressive disease.PMID:37989493 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.10.017 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)
