Clinicopathologic features of conjunctival MALT lymphomas refractory to radiation therapy
CONCLUSIONS: A few patients could not achieve CR following radiotherapy, whereas there were no significant differences in proliferation activity and mismatch repair proteins between tumours with and without CR.PMID:38101452 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.11.006 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Routine history and physical examination prior to cataract surgery are not beneficial
CONCLUSIONS: The rate of postoperative emergency room visits and inpatient admissions within 30 days of cataract surgery was negligibly different, indicating that preoperative examinations, which have been traditionally performed to reduce postoperative morbidity and mortality, offer little value to patients.PMID:38101453 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.11.010 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Evaluation of lamina cribrosa and peripapillary vascular density in thyroid orbitopathy and effect of intravenous methylprednisolone therapy
CONCLUSIONS: The RNFLT may not always increase in DON. Lamina cribrosa morphology may change in patients with TO. IV MTP therapy has a positive effect on the LCT but not on radial peripapillary capillary vascular density or LCD.PMID:38096906 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.11.003 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Effectiveness of treatment for iris melanoma: surgical versus radiotherapeutic approaches
CONCLUSIONS: Metastasis-free survival and globe salvage following plaque radiotherapy and surgical resection are not inferior to either, but eyes undergoing enucleation demonstrated a lower metastasis-free survival, likely because enucleation is performed for larger, more extensive melanomas, often with secondary glaucoma. In this analysis, iris melanoma with ciliary body involvement did not increase the risk of metastasis.PMID:38040029 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2023.10.021 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)
