Forefoot Pain in the Lesser Toes: Anatomical Considerations and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings
Various conditions may result in forefoot pain. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging allows accurate assessment of many of these conditions. We provide an overview of forefoot disorders divided into bones, capsule and plantar plate, musculotendinous structures, neurovascular structures, and subcutaneous tissue. We review normal anatomical features as well as MR imaging findings of common disorders. (Source: Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal)

CARJ: New Chapter
I took the helm of the Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal (CARJ) on July 1, 2019. This is the capstone of my career and a great responsibility. My involvement with the Journal started during my abdominal imaging fellowship 17  years ago. My mentor, Dr Stephanie Wilson, suggested I submit one of my research projects to the CARJ. The Editor-in-Chief at that time, Dr Craig Coblentz, accepted it and encouraged me to send my future work to the Journal. It was a truly enjoyable experience that continued as a productive collab oration with subsequent editors Dr Peter Munk and Dr Mehran Midia. (Source: Canadian Associa...

Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Radiology: Summary of the Joint European and North American Multisociety Statement
This is a condensed summary of an international multisociety statement on ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology produced by the ACR, European Society of Radiology, RSNA, Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics, Canadian Association of Radiologists, and American Association of Physicists in Medicine. AI has great potential to increase efficiency and accuracy throughout radiology, but it also carries inherent pitfalls and biases. Widespread use of AI-based intelligent and autonomous systems in radiology can increase the risk of systemic errors with high conse...

Inferior Vena Cava Filter Evaluation and Management for the Diagnostic Radiologist: A Comprehensive Review Including Inferior Vena Cava Filter-Related Complications and PRESERVE Trial Filters
Inferior vena cava filters are commonly encountered devices on diagnostic imaging that were highlighted in a 2010 Food and Drug Administration safety advisory regarding their complications from long-term implantation. The Predicting the Safety and Effectiveness of Inferior Vena Cava Filters (PRESERVE) trial is an ongoing after-market study investigating the safety and utility of commonly utilized filters in practice today. While most of these filters are safe, prompt recognition and management of any filter-associated complication is imperative to prevent or reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with them. Radiology Through History: Canadian Contributions, 1895-1917
The history of discovery in nineteenth- and twentieth-century medicine is punctuated by Canadian contributions [1 –3]. Physicians from William Osler and Maud Menten to Frederick Banting and William Best are lauded for their contributions that have advanced medical science. However, the Canadian connection to the history of radiology may be less known. Canadian research made significant contributions to basic radiation science, early medical imaging, and contemporary innovations in radiology. Canadian involvement in these technological advancements and clinical interventions led to the establishment of radiology as a dist...
