COVID-associated complications after reconstructive breast surgery: a retrospective cohort study
ConclusionPerioperative COVID-infection increases susceptibility to complicated wound healing after reconstructive breast surgery. A possible explanation lies in the dysregulation of haemostasis by the virus, and its direct effects on microvasculature. A hypercoagulable state results. We recommend to postpone elective breast surgery for 4 –6 weeks after COVID-19 infection. Also, precautionary measures remain important to minimize the risk of perioperative COVID-19 infection. Self-reported barriers to screening breast MRI among women at high risk for breast cancer
ConclusionsHigh-risk women reported low uptake of screening breast MRI, indicating a gap in guideline-concordant care. Breast cancer knowledge and screening-supportive social norms are two key areas to target in future interventions. Data were collected during the COVID-19 pandemic and generalizability of results is unclear. Future studies with larger, more heterogeneous samples are needed to replicate these findings. Diagnostic value of alkaline phosphatase and bone-specific alkaline phosphatase for metastases in breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionAlthough not promising, serum ALP and BAP could bring useful information for the early detection of BC metastases especially for the bone metastases. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Exploring the presence of bovine leukemia virus among breast cancer tumors in a rural state
ConclusionWe did not find BLV DNA in fresh-frozen breast cancer tumors from patients presenting to a hospital in Vermont. Our findings suggest a low prevalence of BLV in our patient population and a need to reevaluate the association between BLV and human breast cancer. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Diagnostic performance of screening mammography according to menstrual cycle among Asian women
ConclusionScreening mammography tended to show a higher performance during week 1 and a lower performance during week 4 of the menstrual cycle among Asian women. These results emphasize the importance of timing recommendations that consider menstrual cycles to optimize the effectiveness of screening mammography for breast cancer detection. Neoadjuvant carboplatin in triple-negative breast cancer: results from NACATRINE, a randomized phase II clinical trial
ConclusionThe addition of carboplatin to standard NACT in stages II and III TNBC was associated with a non-statistically significant numerical increase in the pCR rate. Follow-up for survival outcomes and translational research initiatives are ongoing. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Numerical and physical modeling of breast cancer based on image fusion and artificial intelligence
ConclusionThe new approach developed for the pre-operative assessment and surgical planning of breast cancer patients has demonstrated significant potential for improving the accuracy and efficacy of surgical procedures. This procedure may also help the pathomorphological justification. Moreover, transparent 3D-printed breast models can benefit breast cancer operation assistance. The physical and computational models can help surgeons visualize the breast and the tumor more accurately and detailedly, allowing them to plan the surgery with greater precision and accuracy. The impact of nurse navigation on timeliness to treatment for benign high-risk breast pathology
ConclusionNurse navigation was significantly associated with decreased time to care for patients with high-risk breast pathology undergoing lumpectomy. We recommend nurse navigation programs as part of a comprehensive approach for patients with high-risk breast pathology. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Factors associated with insomnia symptoms over three years among premenopausal women with breast cancer
ConclusionsInsomnia symptoms were most frequent closer to breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, but persisted for some women who were older and those reporting higher hot flashes and depressive symptoms. Survivorship care should include assessing insomnia symptoms, particularly during and immediately after primary treatment. Implementing early interventions for sleep problems may benefit young breast cancer survivors and improve their quality of life. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Effect of neighborhood deprivation index on breast cancer survival in the United States
ConclusionLocoregional BC patients from areas with worse NDI have poor OS and DSS. Investments to improve the socioeconomic status of areas with high deprivation may help to reduce healthcare disparities and improve breast cancer outcomes. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Head-to-head comparison of contrast-enhanced mammography and contrast-enhanced MRI for assessing pathological complete response to neoadjuvant therapy in patients with breast cancer: a meta-analysis
ConclusionThis meta-analysis of head-to-head comparison studies showed that CEM provides an equivalent diagnostic accuracy to CE-MRI in identification of pCR in breast cancer patients receiving NAT. The results support the increasing use of CEM in this setting and would encourage future studies to validate CEM as a suitable replacement for MRI. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Effects of neighborhood disadvantage on cortisol and interviewer-rated anxiety symptoms in breast cancer patients initiating treatment
ConclusionNeighborhood disadvantage is significantly associated with higher levels of  PM cortisol and elevated anxiety symptoms suggesting stress pathways could potentially contribute to relationships between neighborhood disadvantage and BC survival. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)
