Baseline interleukin-6 is a prognostic factor for patients with metastatic breast cancer treated with eribulin
ConclusionBaseline IL-6 is an important prognostic factor in patients with MBC treated with eribulin. Our results show that high IL-6 is associated with higher levels of MDSCs which suppress anti-tumor immunity, such as CD8+ cells. It appears that eribulin is not particularly effective in patients with high IL-6 due to a poor tumor immune microenvironment. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Applicability of magnetic seeds for target lymph node biopsy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in initially node-positive breast cancer patients: data from the AXSANA study
ConclusionMS show excellent applicability for TLNB/TAD when inserted before NACT with a high DR and a low rate of lost markers. Axillary MS can impair MRI assessment of the breast.Trial registration numberNCT04373655 (date of registration May 4, 2020). (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Inter-reader agreement of breast magnetic resonance imaging and contrast-enhanced mammography in breast cancer diagnosis: a multi-reader retrospective study
ConclusionsThe agreement of CEM was superior to that of MRI (p = 0.012), including for both expert (p = 0.031) and non-expert readers (p = 0.005). (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Performance of a RAD51-based functional HRD test on paraffin-embedded breast cancer tissue
ConclusionGiven its high sensitivity and compatibility with FFPE samples, the RAD51-FFPE test holds great potential to enrich for HRD tumors, including those associated withBRCA-deficiency. This potential extends to situations where DNA-based testing may be challenging or not easily accessible in routine clinical practice. This is particularly important considering the potential implications for treatment decisions and patient stratification. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Delayed breast cancer presentation, diagnosis, and treatment in Kenya
ConclusionsBC patients experience long healthcare system delays before diagnosis and treatment. Educating communities and providers about BC and expediting referrals may minimize such delays and subsequently BC mortality rates in Kenya. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Reporting of older subgroups in registration breast cancer trials 2012 –2021
ConclusionThe findings underline significant deficits in the reporting of age-specific data in breast cancer registration trials. The underreporting of key efficacy, safety, and HRQOL outcomes highlights the need for mandatory reporting standards and a dedicated emphasis on older populations' priorities and needs in the reporting of registration clinical trials. The effect of aquatic and land exercise on the mental well-being of women following breast cancer surgery-comparative study
ConclusionRegardless of the type of physical activity, 6  months aquatic and land exercise contributed to improved mental well-being and ensured adequate levels of moderate physical activity of woman after BC surgery. Regular physical activity is crucial in the rehabilitation after mastectomy and can be an effective treatment to achieve beneficial mental outcomes. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Patients ’ experiences undergoing breast evaluation in Rwanda’s Women’s Cancer Early Detection Program
ConclusionRwandan women experienced both benefits and burdens as they underwent breast evaluation. Enthusiasm for participation was not reduced by the experience of a false-positive result. Reducing financial, logistical and emotional burdens of the breast diagnostic pathway through patient navigation, peer support and decentralization of diagnostic services could improve patients ’ experience. Prognostic impact of adjuvant endocrine therapy for estrogen receptor-positive and HER2-negative T1a/bN0M0 breast cancer
ConclusionsThe prognosis was favorable in patients with ER-positive and HER2-negative T1a/bN0M0 breast cancer. Furthermore, adjuvant ET reduced the incidence of distant metastasis with minimal absolute risk difference. These findings support considering the omission of adjuvant ET, especially for patients with low-grade and no lymphatic invasion disease. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Genetic analysis of low-grade adenosquamous carcinoma of the breast progressing to high-grade metaplastic carcinoma
ConclusionNot only LGASC but also its associated high-grade MBC may be genetically different from de novo high-grade MBC. Progression from LGASC to high-grade MBC may involve the concentration of driver mutations caused by clonal selection and inactivation of tumor-suppressor genes. Intraoperative assessment of axillary sentinel lymph nodes by telepathology
ConclusionASLN assessment via telepathology is not significantly different from conventional on-site evaluation, although it shows a slightly higher overall discrepancy rate between intraoperative and final diagnoses (9.6% vs. 5.3%). Further studies are warranted to ensure accuracy of ASLN assessment via telepathology. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Do bilateral procedures further increase the complications for autologous breast reconstruction in obese patients?
ConclusionIn our series, microvascular breast reconstruction was associated with more complication rates in obese patients. However, bilateral procedures in the obese patient group did not significantly increase risk of complications as compared to unilateral procedures. By taking appropriate measures bilateral procedures can be performed in obese patients without additional risks. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)
