Central auditory processing: behavioral and electrophysiological assessment of children and adolescents diagnosed with stroke
ConclusionChildren and adolescents diagnosed with stroke present a worse performance in the electrophysiological and behavioral evaluations of central auditory processing when compared to a control group.

The function of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the metastasis and development of hypopharyngeal carcinoma
ConclusionThe expression of matrix metalloproteinases-2 and 9 in hypopharyngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in pericarcinoma tissue, and it was enhanced with the increase of clinical stage. The expression level was related to lymph node metastasis and tumor pathological stage. Thus, matrix metalloproteinases-2 and 9 may be involved in the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis of hypopharyngeal carcinoma through a variety of mechanisms.

The characteristic of otoacoustic emissions in full-term neonates with ABO blood groups
ConclusionFemale individuals with blood group O have lower otoacoustic emissions values than individuals with the other three blood groups. We need to further investigate the possible relationships between ABO blood group and cochlear function, including the potential influences of noise damage on cochlear outer hair cells.

Diagnostic assessment of patients with Meniere's disease through caloric testing and the video-head-impulse test
ConclusionMost patients with definite Meniere's disease showed hyporeflexia at the Caloric Test and video-Head-Impulse Test with normal function in the symptomatic ear. Vestibular hyporeflexia at the Caloric Test was more frequent in the symptomatic and asymptomatic ears of patients with Meniere's disease than in the control group. The video-Head-Impulse Test showed more alterations in the lateral SCCs.ResumoIntroduçãoDoença de Ménière é uma labirintopatia que geralmente se manifesta com episódios de vertigem espontânea, associada à perda auditiva neurossensorial, ao zumbido e à plenitude aural ipsi e unilateral,...
