Electro ‐nape‐acupuncture regulates the differentiation of microglia through PD‐1/PD‐L1 reducing secondary brain injury in acute phase intracerebral hemorrhage rats
ConclusionThe study concludes that ENA could reduce neurological function damage, inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and improve the infiltration of inflammatory cells to improve secondary brain injury in acute-phase intracerebral hemorrhage rats. These effects could be related to the increased expression of PD-1 around the lesion, promoting the differentiation of microglia from M1 to M2 phenotype. (Source: Brain and Behavior)

High compassion predicts fewer sleep difficulties: A general population study with an 11 ‐year follow‐up
This study investigated the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations between self-reported compassion and sleep quality.MethodsThe data came from the population-based Young Finns Study with an 11-year follow-up on compassion and sleep (n = 1064). We used regression models, multilevel models, and cross-lagged panel models to analyze the data.ResultsThe results showed that high compassion was cross-sectionally associated with lesser sleep deficiency and fewer sleep difficulties. High compassion also predicted fewer sleep difficulties over an 11-year follow-up (adjusted for age, gender, socioeconomic position in childh...

Personality factors in patients with myasthenia gravis: A prospective study
ConclusionA personality profile of increased neuroticism and lower openness and extraversion in MG patients may contribute considerably to the perception of disease severity. It may also be related to frequent comorbidities such as anxiety and depression. Although premorbid levels of neuroticism were increased, this characteristic may also increase considerably during the course of the disease. The data indicate that muscle weakness in MG is accompanied or even complicated by psychological aspects. Therefore, a psychological and behavioral intervention in addition to the specific pharmacological therapy might be of particu...

Sentence memory recall in adolescents: Effects of motor enactment, keyboarding, and handwriting during encoding
ConclusionThese results thus provide additional support for the enactment effect. While there has been much discussion on the relative benefits of handwriting versus keyboarding on student performance, both seemed to be equally poor strategies for the particular learning task explored here, potentially through increased cognitive load. Prangos ferulacea (L.) ameliorates behavioral alterations, hippocampal oxidative stress markers, and apoptotic deficits in a rat model of autism induced by valproic acid
ConclusionThe findings of this study suggest that postnatal administration of PF can prevent VPA-induced ASD-like behaviors by exhibiting antiapoptotic and antioxidant properties. Therefore, PF may have the potential as an adjunct in the management of ASD. (Source: Brain and Behavior)

Preliminary findings on long ‐term effects of fMRI neurofeedback training on functional networks involved in sustained attention
ConclusionThe discrepancy between lasting regulation-related brain changes but transient behavioral and resting-state effects raises the question of how neural changes induced by neurofeedback training translate to potential behavioral improvements. Since neurofeedback directly targets brain measures to indirectly improve behavior in the long term, a better understanding of the brain –behavior associations during and after neurofeedback training is needed to develop its full potential as a promising scientific and clinical tool. Textural features of the frontal white matter could be used to discriminate amnestic mild cognitive impairment patients from the normal population
ConclusionsTextural features  of white matter in the frontal lobe showed potential for distinguishing aMCI from the normal population, which could be a surrogate protocol to aid aMCI screening in clinical setting. (Source: Brain and Behavior)
