Outcomes and quality of care for women and their babies after caesarean section in Nigeria
CONCLUSIONS: One-third of births were delivered via CS (mostly emergency), with almost one in ten women experiencing a complication after a CS. To improve outcomes, hospitals should invest in care and remove obstacles to accessible quality CS services.PMID:38576257 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17815 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Demographic and pregnancy-related predictors of postnatal contraception uptake: A cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: The uptake of PNC in this cohort was low, with almost a fifth of women unable to access their preferred method. However, there was some evidence that women belonging to groups perceived to be at risk of rapid repeat pregnancy were more likely to access reliable PNC methods.PMID:38566256 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17821 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Investigating harms of testing for ovarian cancer - psychological outcomes and cancer conversion rates in women with symptoms of ovarian cancer: A cohort study embedded in the multicentre ROCkeTS prospective diagnostic study
CONCLUSIONS: Women undergoing diagnostic testing display severe anxiety and distress. Younger women are especially vulnerable and should be targeted for support. Women under the age of 40 years have low conversion rates and we advocate reducing testing in this group to reduce the harms of testing.PMID:38556698 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17813 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Incidence, predictors and immediate neonatal outcomes of birth asphyxia in Nigeria
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of reported birth asphyxia in the participating facilities was low, with around one in six or seven babies with birth asphyxia dying. Factors associated with birth asphyxia included sociodemographic and clinical considerations, underscoring a need for a comprehensive approach focused on the empowerment of women and ensuring access to quality antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.PMID:38560768 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17816 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)
