Transferosomes stabilized hydrogel incorporated rhodomyrtone-rich extract from Rhodomyrtus tomentosa leaf fortified with phosphatidylcholine for the management of skin and soft-tissue infections
Biotechnol Lett. 2023 Dec 27. doi: 10.1007/s10529-023-03452-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRhodomyrtus tomentosa leaf (RT)-incorporated transferosomes were developed with lecithin and cholesterol blends with edge activators at different ratios. RT-transferosomes were characterized and employed in transferosomal gel formulations for the management of skin and soft-tissue infections. The optimized formulation entrapped up to 81.90 ± 0.31% of RT with spherical vesicles (405.3 ± 2.0 nm), polydispersity index value of 0.16 ± 0.08, and zeta potential of - 61.62 ± 0.86 mV. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents of RT-transfe...

Transesterification with CE15 glucuronoyl esterase from Cerrena unicolor reveals substrate preferences
CONCLUSION: CuGE preferentially forms the γ-ester from the methyl ester of 4-O-methyl-glucuronate and 3-phenyl-1-propanol and the enzyme's substrate preferences are primarily dictated by the presence of the 4-O-methylation on the glucuronoyl donor, and secondly on the type of alcohol.PMID:38150097 | DOI:10.1007/s10529-023-03456-x (Source: Biotechnology Letters)

Recent advances and current challenges in CAR-T cell therapy
This study focuses on the recent advances and current challenges of Chimeric Antigen Receptor- T (CAR-T) cell therapy and its regulations in the United States (US) and European Union (EU). Understanding the regulatory regimes of CAR-T cell therapy is critical for researchers and manufacturers as they navigate the hurdles of bringing CAR-T cell therapy to the global market. Benefits of CAR-T cell therapy include high response rates and the potential of long-term remissions in some haematological malignancies. However, the drawbacks are still evident including high costs, adverse reactions, and limited efficacy to solid tumo...

Neochloris oleoabundans cell wall rupture through melittin peptide: a new approach to increase lipid recovery
CONCLUSIONS: Melittin produced a selective cell wall rupture effect in N. oleoabundans under some culture conditions. These results represent the first report on the effect of melittin on lipid recovery from microalgae.PMID:38109017 | DOI:10.1007/s10529-023-03451-2 (Source: Biotechnology Letters)

Identification of cocoonase and cocoonase like protein using polyclonal antibody of Antheraea mylitta cocoonase
CONCLUSION: The developed antibody successfully detected the cocoonase of different ecotypes. Thus, in future this antibody can serve as one of the molecular detection method for cocoonase and cocoonase-like proteins.PMID:38109018 | DOI:10.1007/s10529-023-03447-y (Source: Biotechnology Letters)
