Fetal magnetic resonance imaging in the confirmation of congenital anomalies found on routine mid-trimester ultrasound
CONCLUSIONS: We have shown that in women with suspected anomaly scan results, requiring further clarification, MRI confirmed ultrasound at a high rate, particularly for urinary tract and facial anomalies.PMID:38445385 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.008 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Comparison of dose length product and image quality of a biphasic whole-body polytrauma CT protocol with and without the automatic tube voltage selection
CONCLUSION: Combination of ATVS and ATCM in polytraumatic 2PWBCT leads to no significant radiation load reduction compared with ATCM only but does lead to a slight degradation of image quality. The radiation load is significantly reduced if the patient has their arms behind the head when scanning, regardless of the activation of ATVS.PMID:38445394 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.004 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Current trends in the management of out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA)
Biomed Pap Med Fac Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub. 2024 Mar 4. doi: 10.5507/bp.2024.006. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSudden cardiac arrest remains a relevant problem with a significant number of deaths worldwide. Although survival rates have more than tripled over the last 20 years (4% in 2001 vs. 14% in 2020), survival rates with good neurological outcomes remain persistently low, representing a major socioeconomic problem. Every minute of delay from patient collapse to start cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by approximately 10-12%. Therefore, the time to trea...

Association of the combined parameters including the frequency of primary cilia, PD-L1, Smoothened protein, membranous β-catenin and cytoplasmic β-catenin expression with the outcome of patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma
CONCLUSION: The present study provides the first data on the potential association and combined prognostic significance of frequency of primary cilia, PD-L1, Smoothened protein and β-catenin expression with the outcome in clear cell renal cell carcinoma.PMID:38420990 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.005 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Experimental model of primary intraocular lymphoma based on BALB/CaNn strain and A20 cells is optimal for investigational research
CONCLUSION: Slower progression of the disease in BALB/CaNn mice, greater possibility to examine the retina due to mild vitreous involvement, and later occurrence of exophthalmos makes this strain more suitable for further investigational research.PMID:38410917 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.003 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Oxidative stress, microparticles, and E-selectin do not depend on HIV suppression
CONCLUSIONS: Elevated markers of oxidative stress, inflammatory and endothelial activation were independent of the virologic and immunologic status of people with HIV. These results support the hypothesis that residual viremia in cellular reservoirs of various tissues is a key factor related to the premature aging of the immune system and predisposition to the premature development of diseases associated with aging.PMID:38390755 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.002 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer following vessel density correction at different IOP values
CONCLUSION: The greatest changes in RNFLc (RNFL minus VD) were in eyes with pathological IOP in segments 5 and 8, the location of the retinal ganglion cell magnocellular fibers. That is, when the thickness of the nerve fiber layer was reduced by correcting for vessel density, there was a significant correlation in segments 5 (r =-0.32, p<0.05) and 8 (r =-0.21, P<0.05) with intraocular pressure. The results suggest use of a corrected RNFL from VD value as more appropriate for detecting early changes in glaucoma.PMID:38230508 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.001 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palack...
