Physical activity interventions among youth living in rural and remote areas: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: Few community-based PA interventions have been evaluated in rural areas. There is a need for future evaluations in rural areas and include PA as an outcome measure.IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH: The findings highlight the need for measurement of PA outcomes in PA interventions in rural and remote areas. The findings also highlight the need for research to utilise a standardised measure of rurality.PMID:38489936 | DOI:10.1016/j.anzjph.2024.100137 (Source: Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health)

Tobacco sales through vending machines: Insights from owners and managers of Australian alcohol-licenced premises with different licencing schemes
CONCLUSION: The study provides the first evidence on the attitudes of owners/managers to the importance of tobacco sales, revealing that the vast majority of those owners/managers do not believe that tobacco sales are important for their venue.IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH: The presence of tobacco vending machines implicitly promotes tobacco products and therefore contravenes Australia's obligations under the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. The results provide powerful evidence that restrictions on tobacco sales can be implemented without major financial damage to those vendors.PMID:3845...

Cardiometabolic health markers among Aboriginal adolescents from the Next Generation Youth Wellbeing Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: Most Aboriginal adolescents in this study had cardiometabolic markers within the ideal range, though markers of high risk were present from early adolescence. Ideal health markers were more prevalent among those with healthy body composition.IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH: Specific screening and management guidelines for Aboriginal adolescents and population health initiatives that support maintenance of healthy body composition could help improve cardiometabolic health in this population.PMID:38447271 | DOI:10.1016/j.anzjph.2024.100139 (Source: Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health)
