Spontaneous middle lobe torsion in a patient with multicentric Castleman disease: A case report
We describe a rare case of middle lobe lung torsion in a patient with a tension hydrothorax secondary to multicentric Castleman disease. The case demonstrates the difficulty of diagnosing torsion prospectively, and the possible sequelae of delayed detection. Although imaging features can be confusing, an awareness of this condition and careful image interpretation by radiologists could facilitate early recognition and management of a torted lobe. Randomized double ‐blind trial of amifostine versus placebo for radiation‐induced xerostomia in patients with head and neck cancer
ConclusionThere was no clear evidence that pretreatment with amifostine made any difference to the incidence of grade ≥2 acute or late xerostomia. Other toxicity tended to bemore severe with amifostine. There was no effect on failure ‐free or overall survival. Acknowledging the low statistical power, these results do not support the use of IV amifostine pre‐radiotherapy in HNSCC. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

MRI diagnosis and follow ‐up of chest wall and breast desmoid tumours in patients with a history of oncologic breast surgery and silicone implants: A pictorial report
ConclusionsMagnetic resonance imaging delineates the complex infiltrative features of chest wall and breast desmoid tumours. In tumours with a bright cellular enhancing and dark collagenous non ‐enhancing component, treatment response may be predicted by changes on serial T2‐weighted sequences, beyond the tumour‐dimension‐based RECIST assessment alone. Cutaneous malignancies in Indigenous Peoples of urban Sydney
ConclusionThis cohort has demonstrated late ‐stage presentation of skin cancers, with substantial morbidity and mortality from potentially treatable cutaneous malignancies. This parallels other health conditions in Indigenous Australians and has highlighted the need for improved data collection of Indigenous status to better quantify the ep idemiology of skin cancer in this population. There is an imperative to improve skin cancer awareness in this population to allow earlier detection and management to ensure better outcomes. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Breast cancer diagnosis in a specialised breast clinic: Are cancers detected by ultrasound alone less aggressive?
ConclusionThis study illustrates the complementary benefits of mammography and BUS, especially where breast density is high. Tumours diagnosed by BUS alone had better prognostic features in terms of size, lymphovascular invasion, lymph node status, differentiation and hormone receptors, compared with cancers where all three modalities were positive. Computer vs human: Deep learning versus perceptual training for the detection of neck of femur fractures
ConclusionsSingle detection tasks in radiology are commonly used in DCNN research with their results often used to make broader claims about machine learning being able to perform as well as subspecialty radiologists. This study suggests that as impressive as recognising fractures is for a DCNN, similar learning can be achieved by top ‐performing medically‐naïve humans with less than 1 hour of perceptual training. ConclusionWithin the limitations of an underpowered study, we observed a benefit of EVT in acute BAO. With future multicentre trials, EVT will likely become the standard of care in acute BAO. (Source: Australasian Radiology)
