Preparation of titanium dioxide nanoparticles from < em > Solanum Tuberosum < /em > peel extract and its applications
Artif Cells Nanomed Biotechnol. 2024 Dec;52(1):59-68. doi: 10.1080/21691401.2023.2301068. Epub 2024 Jan 12.ABSTRACTThe present study describes a method for the preparation of green titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles from the peel of Solanum tuberosum, commonly known as potato, and the potato peel being a kitchen waste. The green synthesized TiO2 (G- TiO2) nanoparticles were characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, TEM, XRD, and FTIR spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the G- TiO2 nanoparticles was also shown using the dye bromophenol blue. To explore t...

Investigation of pharmacokinetics and immunogenicity of magnetosomes
Artif Cells Nanomed Biotechnol. 2024 Dec;52(1):69-83. doi: 10.1080/21691401.2023.2289367. Epub 2024 Jan 12.ABSTRACTMagnetosomes are iron oxide or iron sulphide nano-sized particles surrounded by a lipid bilayer synthesised by a group of bacteria known as magnetotactic bacteria (MTB). Magnetosomes have become a promising candidate for biomedical applications and could be potentially used as a drug-carrier. However, pharmacokinetics and immunogenicity of the magnetosomes have not been understood yet which preclude its clinical applications. Herein, we investigated the pharmacokinetics of magnetosomes including Absorption, Di...

Synthesis and characterization of Fe < sub > 3 < /sub > O < sub > 4 < /sub > @SiO < sub > 2 < /sub > @PDA@Ag core-shell nanoparticles and biological application on human lung cancer cell line and antibacterial strains
In this study, we have successfully prepared a core-shell Fe3O4@SiO2@PDA nanocomposite wrapped with Ag using a simple synthesis method, characterised and tested on small cell lung cancer and antibacterial strains. Incorporating Ag in Fe3O4@SiO2@PDA provides promising advantages in biomedical applications. The magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles were coated with SiO2 to obtain negatively charged surface which is then coated with polydopamine (PDA). Then silver nanoparticles were assembled on Fe3O4@SiO2@PDA surface, which results in the formation core-shell nanocomposite. The synthesised nanocomposite were characterized using SEM-E...

Haemostatic potency of sodium alginate/aloe vera/sericin composite scaffolds - preparation, characterisation, and evaluation
Artif Cells Nanomed Biotechnol. 2024 Dec;52(1):35-45. doi: 10.1080/21691401.2023.2293784. Epub 2023 Dec 19.ABSTRACTFabrication of haemostatic materials with excellent antimicrobial, biocompatible and biodegradable properties remains as a major challenge in the field of medicine. Haemostatic agents play vital role in protecting patients and military individuals during emergency situations. Natural polymers serve as promising materials for fabricating haemostatic compounds due to their efficacy in promoting hemostasis and wound healing. In the present work, sodium alginate/aloe vera/sericin (SA/AV/S) scaffold has been fabric...
