Harvesting decellularized liver extracellular matrix from rodents for 3D scaffold fabrication
This study also compares the efficiency of the proposed protocol in the two animal models viz rat and mice. This method harvests rat and mice liver dECM using ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) within 08 h and 02 h respectively and preserved significant amount of ECM proteins. We reported that the harvested mice decellularized extracellular matrix (mdECM) and rat decellularized extracellular matrix (rdECM) had significant reduction in their DNA content (∼97%) and retained structural architecture resembling their native tissue counterparts. The total protein content retained in mdEC...

Comprehensive analysis of anoikis-related genes in diagnosis osteoarthritis: based on machine learning and single-cell RNA sequencing data
The objective of this work was to discover novel transcriptome-based anoikis-related biomarkers and pathways for OA progression. The microarray datasets GSE114007 and GSE89408 were downloaded using the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. A collection of genes linked to anoikis has been collected from the GeneCards database. The intersection genes of the differential anoikis-related genes (DEARGs) were identified using a Venn diagram. Infiltration analyses were used to identify and study the differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Anoikis clustering was used to identify the DEGs. By using gene clustering, two OA subgroups...

The identification of metabolites from gut microbiota in coronary heart disease via network pharmacology
In this study, the active gut microbial metabolites acting on CHD and their potential mechanisms of action were explored through a network pharmacological approach. We collected a total of 208 metabolites from the gutMgene database and 726 overlapping targets from the similarity ensemble approach (SEA) and SwissTargetPrediction (STP) database, and ultimately identified 610 targets relevant to CHD. In conjunction with the gutMGene database, we identified 12 key targets. The targets of exogenous substances were removed, and 10 core targets involved in CHD were eventually retained. The microbiota-metabolites-targets-signallin...

A bioconvergence study on platinum-free concurrent chemoradiotherapy for the treatment of HPV-negative head and neck carcinoma
Artif Cells Nanomed Biotechnol. 2024 Dec;52(1):122-129. doi: 10.1080/21691401.2024.2309233. Epub 2024 Feb 5.ABSTRACTLocally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (LA-HNSCC) is characterized by high rate of recurrence, resulting in a poor survival. Standard treatments are associated with significant toxicities that impact the patient's quality of life, highlighting the urgent need for novel therapies to improve patient outcomes. On this regard, noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) are emerging as promising agents as both drug carriers and radiosensitizers. On the other hand, co-treatments based on NPs are still at the p...
