Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Polyarteritis Nodosa: An International Study
ConclusionThe spectrum of PAN remains a complex, multifaceted disease. Relapse is common. Age ≥65 years and serum creatinine>140 μmol/L at diagnosis, as well as gastrointestinal and CNS involvement, are independent predictors of death in sPAN. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatology)

Declining Incidence of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in Norway 1999 –2017: Data From a Population Cohort Identified by International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision Code and Verified by Classification
ConclusionIn a presumably complete population-based cohort, we identified decreasing incidence of SLE, especially among female persons 50 to 59  years old. Although reasons for declining incidence are not clear, ecological data indicate a possible role of environmental factors, for example, menopausal hormone treatments. Vitamin D and Marine n ‐3 Fatty Acids for Autoimmune Disease Prevention: Outcomes Two Years After Completion of a Double‐Blind, Placebo‐Controlled Trial
ConclusionTwo years after trial termination, the protective effects of 2000 IU/day of vitamin D dissipated, but 1,000 mg/day of n-3 fatty acids had a sustained effect in reducing AD incidence. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatology)

Hydroxychloroquine in Lupus Pregnancy and Risk of Preeclampsia
ConclusionUsing a large insurance-based database, we did not observe a decreased risk of preeclampsia associated with HCQ treatment in pregnancy, although we cannot rule out residual and unmeasured confounding and misclassification. Further studies leveraging large population-based data and prospective collection could characterize how HCQ influences preeclampsia risk in pregnant patients with SLE and among persons at greater risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. A multilayered post ‐GWAS analysis pipeline defines functional variants and target genes for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
ConclusionWe demonstrate and validate post-GWAS strategies for utilizing multi-dimensional data to prioritize likely causal variants with cognate gene targets underlying SLE pathogenesis. Our results provide a catalog of significantly SLE-associated SNPs and loci, target genes, and likely biochemical mechanisms, to guide experimental characterization. Intra ‐Articular Mineralization on Knee CT and Risk of Cartilage Damage: The Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study
CONCLUSIONSCT-detected IA mineralization in the cartilage was associated with higher risk of MRI cartilage worsening in the same compartment and subregion over two years. These findings suggest potential localized, tissue-specific effects of IA mineralization on cartilage pathology in knee OA. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatology)
