Germinal center B cells are essential for collagen ‐induced arthritis
ConclusionTogether, we identify germinal center formation and anti‐collagen antibody production as the key pathogenic function of B cells in CIA. The role of B cells in RA is likely to be more complex. However, targeting the germinal center reaction could allow for more refined therapeutic interventions than general B cell depletion. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Brief Report: De Novo Human Herpesvirus 8 Tumors Induced by Rituximab in Autoimmune or Inflammatory Systemic Diseases
ConclusionOur findings indicate that patients who have a high skin phototype and are at risk of HHV‐8 should be carefully screened for HHV‐8 before RTX therapy. The safety of RTX, especially in nonlymphomatous disorders, should be carefully evaluated in patients at risk of HHV‐8 tumors. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatism)

Brief Report: Defective Early B Cell Tolerance Checkpoints in Sj ögren's Syndrome Patients
ConclusionDefective counterselection of developing autoreactive B cells observed in SS patients is a feature common to many other autoimmune diseases and may favor the development of autoimmunity by allowing autoreactive B cells to present self antigens to T cells. Brief Report: Rare X Chromosome Abnormalities in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Sj ögren's Syndrome
ConclusionVery rare X chromosome abnormalities are present among patients with either SS or SLE and may inform the location of a gene(s) that mediates an X dose effect, as well as critical cell types in which such an effect is operative. (Source: Arthritis and Rheumatism)
