CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, intracellular ANGPTL3 downregulation by silencing RNA led to an increase in triglycerides content due to a reduction in energy substrate utilization resembling a primary intracellular hepatocyte hypothyroidism.PMID:38385290 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.319789 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)

High-Dimensional Single-Cell Multimodal Landscape of Human Carotid Atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: Our multimodal atlas of cell populations within atherosclerosis provides novel insights into the diversity, phenotype, location, isolation, and clinical relevance of the unique cellular composition of human carotid atherosclerosis. These findings facilitate both the mapping of cardiovascular disease susceptibility loci to specific cell types and the identification of novel molecular and cellular therapeutic targets for the treatment of the disease.PMID:38385291 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.320524 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)

Reduced Monocyte and Neutrophil Infiltration and Activation by P-Selectin/CD62P Inhibition Enhances Thrombus Resolution
CONCLUSIONS: Inhibition of P-selectin-dependent activation of monocytes and neutrophils accelerates venous thrombosis resolution due to reduced infiltration and activation of innate immune cells at the site of thrombus formation, which prevents early thrombus stabilization and facilitates fibrinolysis.PMID:38385292 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.320016 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)

Calcium Signaling in Airway Epithelial Cells: Current Understanding and Implications for Inflammatory Airway Disease
Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2024 Feb 22. doi: 10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.318339. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAirway epithelial cells play an indispensable role in protecting the lung from inhaled pathogens and allergens by releasing an array of mediators that orchestrate inflammatory and immune responses when confronted with harmful environmental triggers. While this process is undoubtedly important for containing the effects of various harmful insults, dysregulation of the inflammatory response can cause lung diseases including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pulmonary fibrosis. A key cellular mechanism t...

TF-FVIIa PAR2- β-Arrestin in Mouse Signaling Sustains Organ Dysfunction in Coxsackievirus B3 Infection
CONCLUSIONS: These data provide insights into a TF-FVIIa signaling axis through PAR2-β-arrestin coupling that is a regulator of inflammation-triggered tissue repair and hemodynamic compromise in coxsackievirus B3 infection and can potentially be targeted with selective coagulation inhibitors.PMID:38385286 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.320157 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)

Use of Genomics to Develop Novel Therapeutics and Personalize Hypertension Therapy
Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2024 Feb 22. doi: 10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.319220. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHypertension is a prevalent public health problem, contributing to >10 million deaths annually. Though multiple therapeutics exist, many patients suffer from treatment-resistant hypertension or try several medications before achieving blood pressure control. Genomic advances offer mechanistic understanding of blood pressure variability, therapeutic targets, therapeutic response, and promise a stratified approach to treatment of primary hypertension. Cyclic guanosine monophosphate augmentation, aldosterone synthase ...

Differences in Cardiometabolic Proteins in Pregnancy Prioritize Relevant Targets of Preeclampsia
CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrate the value of performing targeted proteomics using a panel of cardiovascular biomarkers to identify biomarkers relevant to preeclampsia pathophysiology and highlight the need for larger multiomic studies to define modifiable pathways of surveillance and intervention upstream to preeclampsia diagnosis.PMID:38385288 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.124.320737 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)

Inhibition of IL-1 Ameliorates Cardiac Dysfunction and Arrhythmias in a Murine Model of Kawasaki Disease
CONCLUSIONS: Our results characterize the electrophysiological abnormalities associated with L casei cell wall extract-induced KD and show that IL-1Ra is more effective in preventing KD-induced myocardial dysfunction and arrhythmias than anti-TNFα therapy. These findings support the advancement of clinical trials using IL-1Ra in patients with KD.PMID:38385289 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.320382 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)
