Hypertensive and HLA-B27 negative uveitis: Disease course and complications
CONCLUSIONS: HLA-B27 negative hypertensive acute anterior uveitis with CMV positive has a more aggressive initial presentation. However, after one year, the glaucomatous damage is less than in the negative group. In hypertensive acute anterior uveitis, when inflammation in anterior chamber is controlled then IOP is also controlled.PMID:33744005 | DOI:10.1016/j.oftal.2021.01.006 (Source: Archivos de la Sociedad Espanola de Oftalmologia)

Macular involvement in congenital aniridia
Arch Soc Esp Oftalmol. 2021 Mar 15:S0365-6691(21)00007-1. doi: 10.1016/j.oftal.2020.11.025. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis review updates the knowledge about the morphological assessment of the foveal hypoplasia in Congenital Aniridia and resumes the reported genotype-phenotype correlations known to date. Congenital Aniridia is a pan ocular disease. Although iris absence is considered the hallmark of this entity, foveal hypoplasia is present in 94.7-84% of patients. A foveal morphology assessed by optical coherence tomography in which external retina structures can be identified, with presence of the lengthening of pho...

Macular and choroidal thickness in Down syndrome by swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT)
Arch Soc Esp Oftalmol. 2021 Mar 11:S0365-6691(21)00054-X. doi: 10.1016/j.oftal.2021.01.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDown syndrome (DS) is associated with certain structural and functional disorders in the whole visual system. The purpose was to compare retinal and choroidal thickness using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) in DS subjects with controls. This cross-sectional study included 100 eyes of 52 DS subjects and 78 eyes of 39 matching age and axial length controls. Our results showed that inner or outer retinal and ganglionar thickness showed no significant differences between DS and control gr...

Combined excimer laser trabeculostomy and phacoemulsification: one year follow-up real world data of a laser-based MIGS
Arch Soc Esp Oftalmol. 2021 Mar 11:S0365-6691(21)00053-8. doi: 10.1016/j.oftal.2020.12.021. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and complication profile of excimer laser trabeculostomy (ELT), an emerging laser-based trabecular minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), combined with cataract surgery in routine clinical practice.PATIENTS AND METHODS: Single-site, retrospective, interventional study. Preoperative and postoperative clinical data of patients with cataract and open-angle glaucoma (OAG) who underwent combined phacoemulsification and ELT were collected and analyzed at preoperative day...
