Pressure control and treatment interact in the deterioration of incidental visuospatial memory in hypertensive patients
CONCLUSIONS: The visuospatial incidental/intentional scores were negatively correlated with systolic pressure. The efficiency in the visuospatial ability depends on the interaction of treatment and effective control of blood pressure. The interaction between treatment and effective pressure control must be taken in count when cognitive deterioration is studied.PMID:38507327 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.22000290 (Source: Archivos de Cardiologia de Mexico)

Prevalence of neonatal lupus in a small group of antibody-carrying mothers and frequency of complete atrioventricular block
CONCLUSIONS: CCAB is rare and frequently associated with a maternal autoimmune disease, practically all of them will require a definitive pacemaker at some point in their lives.PMID:38507328 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.22000233 (Source: Archivos de Cardiologia de Mexico)

Epidemiology and outcomes of pediatric cardiac arrest in a cardiovascular unit at a public hospital in Argentina
CONCLUSIONS: 4.1% of patients presented CRA, with a rate of 3.4 CRA per 1,000 patient-days. Survival at hospital discharge (n = 50) was 46%. Resuscitation > 6 min and the use of vasoactive drugs were independent predictors of mortality. At six months, 63% had normal neurological development for age.PMID:38507335 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.22000237 (Source: Archivos de Cardiologia de Mexico)

Development, techniques, and utility of experimental animal models of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms
Arch Cardiol Mex. 2024 Mar 13. doi: 10.24875/ACM.23000180. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAneurysms are clinical entities that can develop and affect human aorta; and although in most cases they have an asymptomatic course, these pathological dilatations can lead to a lethal outcome when rupture occurs, thus the establishment of predictors is crucial for death prevention. Essential events that take place in the vessel wall have been identified and described, such as inflammation, proteolysis, smooth muscle cell apoptosis, angiogenesis, and vascular remodeling. Porcine and ovine models have been useful for the development an...

CONCLUSION: In conclusion, complete blockage of the right branch of the bundle of His (44.2%) is one of the primary conduction disorders in the patients studied. Regarding seroprevalence, 14% of patients diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy had anti-T. cruzi antibodies.PMID:38467078 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.23000181 (Source: Archivos de Cardiologia de Mexico)

Experience of percutaneous closure of small to large patent ductus arteriosus with Nit-Occlud < sup > ® < /sup > device in a tertiary referral hospital in Colombia
CONCLUSIONS: Using the Nit-Occlud® device to close small to moderate-sized ductus remains a safe and effective strategy with successful closure rates at 1-year follow-up irrespective of age, weight, height, or whether it involves a small or medium-sized duct. Despite our limitations, results concerning adverse effects are comparable to those observed in multicentric studies conducted in other regions.PMID:38467114 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.23000267 (Source: Archivos de Cardiologia de Mexico)
