Special Considerations in Classification and Workup of Endometrial Carcinomas
CONCLUSIONS.—: Although each of these uncommon endometrial tumors has morphologic mimics, key histologic features, immunohistochemical stains, and molecular testing allow for accurate classification.PMID:37931213 | DOI:10.5858/arpa.2023-0098-RA (Source: Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine)

Autopsy Histopathologic Lung Findings in Patients Treated With Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
CONCLUSIONS.—: Although DAD was significantly more common in lung autopsies of VV ECMO patients, one-third of VA ECMO patients had histopathologic changes characteristic of ARDS. The presence of DAD in lung autopsies of patients treated with VA ECMO indicates that in these patients, protective lung ventilation should be considered.PMID:37931217 | DOI:10.5858/arpa.2023-0073-OA (Source: Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine)

A New Species of Pseudopaludicola Miranda-Ribeiro, 1926 (Anura, Leptodactylidae) from Tocantins State, Brazil
Arch Pathol Lab Med. 2023 Sep 1;57(3):297-314. doi: 10.1670/22062.ABSTRACTThe number of described species of Pseudopaludicola has increased at unprecedented rates over the past two decades. This increase was mainly driven by the sampling effort in regions historically neglected and the use of evidence from bioacoustic, genetic, and morphological datasets combined. Here, we describe a new species of Pseudopaludicola from a transitional zone between Amazonia and Cerrado in western Tocantins State as revealed through morphological, molecular, and bioacoustic analysis. Pseudopaludicola javae sp. nov. is distinguished from its ...

Biology of Yucat án Box Turtles (Terrapene yucatana) in Northern Yucatán
Arch Pathol Lab Med. 2023 Sep 1;57(3):325-333.ABSTRACTYucatán Box Turtles (Terrapene yucatana) are the only fully tropical lineage of box turtles (Terrapene spp.). We studied the ecology, movements, behavior, and habitat associations of T. yucatana in northern Yucatán, México, over 218 field days from 2014-2019. We estimated the size of two subpopulations to comprise 36.6 and 3.0 turtles, with corresponding densities of 2.29 and 0.39 turtles/ha, respectively. We obtained 2,808 radio locations from radiotelemetry of 20 adults. We estimated an annual survivorship rate over a 5-yr period exceeding 0.989. For both sexes com...

Diet of Invasive Rough Bent-Toed Geckos, Cyrtopodion scabrum (Heyden, 1827), in Southeastern Algeria
Arch Pathol Lab Med. 2023 Sep 1;57(3):315-324.ABSTRACTRough Bent-Toed Gecko, Cyrtopodion scabrum (Heyden, 1827), is an invasive species in Algeria and northwestern Africa. We provide detailed information on the morphometry and diet of C. scabrum from an urban area in Debila (northeastern Oued Souf), Algeria. We found a significant correlation between morphological characters (body length, snout-vent length, and tail length) in individuals within each sex, but no differences in morphometry between females and males. Analysis of stomach contents of 30 specimens (15 adult males, 15 adult females) resulted in identification of...

Establishment of a Labile Bound Copper Reference Interval in a Healthy Population via an Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry Dual Filtration-Based Assay
CONCLUSIONS.—: Sex-specific reference intervals have now been established for LBC and LBC fraction. These data in conjunction with further testing of WD populations can be used to assess the sensitivity and specificity of LBC fraction in screening, monitoring, and diagnosis.PMID:37870242 | DOI:10.5858/arpa.2023-0259-OA (Source: Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine)
