A model-based cost-effectiveness analysis of fracture liaison services in China
ConclusionFLS could potentially lead to lifetime cost-saving in patients who have experienced a fracture. Our study informs the potential cost-effectiveness of FLS and the knowledge gap in China; more future research incorporating Chinese-specific real-world data are needed to confirm the results of our study and to better evaluate the cost-effectiveness of FLS in China. Atypical femoral fracture in a bisphosphonate-na ïve patient on denosumab for osteoporosis
ConclusionThe patient underwent intramedullary nailing of the femur and denosumab was ceased. This is only the fifth case reported of atypical femoral fracture in a bisphosphonate-na ïve patient receiving denosumab for osteoporosis. Although rare, physicians should maintain a high index of suspicion for atypical femoral fracture in a patient taking denosumab even without prior bisphosphonate exposure. Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on osteoporotic hip fractures in Chile
ConclusionDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, osteoporotic HF rates decreased, along with ED consultation and hospitalization rates due to trauma in older adults. Geographic variation in hip fracture surgery rate, care quality and outcomes: a comparison between national registries in Ireland and Denmark
ConclusionIreland and Denmark have similar hip fracture surgery rates, but differences in care quality, surgery patterns and outcomes. High variation in THA provision and observed differences in mortality require further exploration. In Ireland, there is scope for improvement regarding early surgery, mobility, nutrition assessment and improved post-discharge follow-up. (Source: Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery)

Fracture incidence in children and adolescents 0 –19 years old in Mexico: a 12-year cross-sectional analysis
ConclusionThis is the first study in Mexico to follow the behavior of fractures in the pediatric population over 12  years. Fractures seem to be decreasing in children and adolescents. An epidemiological follow-up of childhood fractures is necessary to understand the causes of fractures to generate better prevention and treatment strategies. Effect of denosumab treatment on bone mineral density and bone turnover markers in osteoporotic patients: real-life experience 2-year follow-up
ConclusionIn our group of patients under denosumab treatment, 53% of persistence was found at 24  months and associated with improvement in BMD levels without any significant side effects except one case with urticarial reaction. Denosumab leads to improvements in BMD levels and is a well-tolerated agent in a real-life setting comparable to results of randomized controlled studies in patients with different comorbidities. Alliance for the development of the Argentinian Hip Fracture Registry
ConclusionAHFR development was based on four pillars: (1) representativeness and support, (2) solid definitions from onset, (3) committed teams, and (4) stable funding. This tool may contribute to the design of evidence-based health policies to improve patient outcomes, and we hope this experience will help other LMICs to develop their own tailored-to-their-needs registries.
