Culturally and Linguistically Informed Neuropsychological Evaluation Protocol for Primarily Spanish-Speaking Adults
CONCLUSION: Provision of neuropsychological services to primarily Spanish-speaking adults presents unique challenges. Existing Spanish measures and accompanying data rarely capture the heterogeneity of L/H individuals. Although Spanish has the largest number of neurocognitive instruments, relative to other languages, robust and representative norms continue to be scarce. Future studies should prioritize collecting normative data from educationally and geographically diverse samples.PMID:36988491 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad018 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

A Neuropsychological Battery for the Evaluation of Dementia Among Mandarin-Speaking Older Adults in the United States
CONCLUSION: Strengths and limitations of the battery and the role of interpretation in service delivery are discussed. The battery is recommended to clinicians for the evaluation of Mandarin-speaking older adults residing in the United States and other non-Mandarin-speaking regions where local norms are not available.PMID:36988501 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acac085 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Culturally Competent Approaches for Neuropsychological Assessment for Differential Diagnosis of Dementia of Korean-Speaking Patients in the United States
CONCLUSIONS: Given the large and aging population of Korean-speaking residents in the United States, it is imperative to utilize appropriately designed and normed instruments to provide culturally competent assessments to better serve the Korean community.PMID:36988508 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acac094 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Developing a Culturally Competent Neuropsychological Assessment Battery for Farsi-speaking Patients with Suspected Dementia
CONCLUSIONS: The number of neuropsychological measures available in Farsi and/or with normative data for Farsi speakers is extremely limited. Cognitive tests either developed for or validated with a bilingual Farsi-English sample also represent a significant gap in the literature. Appropriate measures for these populations are urgently needed to provide a culturally competent assessment of a growing older adult segment of an underserved community.PMID:36988547 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acac099 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Developing a Culturally Competent Neuropsychological Assessment Battery for Vietnamese-speaking Patients with Suspected Dementia
CONCLUSIONS: The number of neuropsychological measures identified in Vietnamese and/or with Vietnamese normative data was sparse. Given the large and growing population of Vietnamese-speaking residents in the U.S. and the aging of these communities, it is imperative to develop additional, appropriately designed and normed instruments to provide culturally competent assessments to better serve these individuals.PMID:36988566 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acac035 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Developing Culturally Competent Foreign Language Neuropsychological Assessments: Portuguese-Speaking Brazilians Living in the United States
CONCLUSION: Neuropsychologists are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the proposed protocol, understand the psychometric limitations of the available tools, and make an earnest attempt toward providing socially responsible neuropsychological care via the appropriate use of culturally and linguistically tailored instruments and clinical practices.PMID:36988624 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad016 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Sensory Integration Deficits in Neurodegenerative Diseases: Implications for Apraxia
CONCLUSION: In a non-negligible portion of patients, the hypothesis of a disruption of sensory integration can be more parsimonious than the hypothesis of apraxia in case of impaired skilled gestures. Clinicians and researchers are advised to integrate sensory integration measures along with their evaluation of apraxia.PMID:36973225 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad028 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Time of Day Effects in the Relationships Between Daytime Sleepiness, Current Arousal, and Cognitive Performance
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that time of testing is important to account for when assessing sleepiness and cognition in older adults and that consideration should be given to how sleepiness is measured.PMID:36966744 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad027 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Impact of Emotions on Test of Variables of Attention(TOVA) Performance in a Pediatric Clinical Population: A Retrospective Study
CONCLUSION: TOVA results do not seem to be affected by emotional symptoms in youth. This being said, future studies should also explore other factors that can affect the performance on the TOVA, like motor disability, sleepiness, or neurodevelopmental disorders affecting cognitive abilities.PMID:36892414 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad023 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)
