Characteristics of and Professional Issues Experienced by Early Career Neuropsychologists in the United States - Findings from a Survey Study
CONCLUSIONS: Specific ways to aid and strengthen trainees and ECPs' professional needs are discussed with a focus on activities that can be undertaken at individual-, department-, profession-, and higher legislative-specific levels.IMPACT STATEMENT: Question: Using survey data, this study aimed to characterize early career psychologists (ECPs) training history and their current work settings, identify their needs, and understand their perspectives about challenges and expectations. Findings: Results reveal that the workforce comprising of ECPs is getting increasingly diverse, and their needs are typically focused on obtain...

Association of Retrospectively Reported Concussion Symptoms with Objective Cognitive Performance in Former American-Style Football Players
CONCLUSIONS: Future investigations of the long-term outcomes of contact sports exposure should include measures of sports-related concussion symptoms, which were more sensitive to objective cognitive performance than other football exposure measures, including self-reported diagnosed concussions.PMID:36861317 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad008 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Intelligence and Executive Functions: A Comprehensive Assessment of Intellectually Gifted Children
CONCLUSIONS: Contrary to expectations, high intellectual level does not appear to be associated with superior EFs. Surprisingly, parents and teachers of IGC reported more complaints about their executive functioning in everyday life. We put forward different hypotheses to explain this contrast. Further research is needed to better understand this phenomenon, in which neuropsychology has a fundamental role to play.PMID:36852774 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad021 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Gender Differences in Auditory and Visual Attentional Performance in Children with and without ADHD
CONCLUSIONS: ADHD children had a significant gap in auditory and visual attention performance compared to TD children. The research results support the impact of gender on the performance of auditory and visual attention in children with and without ADHD.PMID:36796801 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad019 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)

Motor Symptom Asymmetry Predicts Cognitive and Neuropsychiatric Profile Following Deep Brain Stimulation of the Subthalamic Nucleus in Parkinson's Disease: a 5-Year Longitudinal Study
CONCLUSION: Right-sided motor symptoms are a risk factor for more severe short- and long-term cognitive and neuropsychiatric symptoms following STN-DBS, confirming literature findings on left hemispheric vulnerability.PMID:36796803 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad013 (Source: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology)
