Our analysis shows that long working hours negatively affect job satisfaction, particularly among those with prior full-time employment, limited courier experience, third-party recruitment, and marital status. To address endogeneity concerns, we employ an instrumental variable approach, using monthly precipitation and working hours of peers as instruments, which confirms the robustness of our findings. Urban Green Space Usage and Life Satisfaction During the Covid-19 Pandemic
AbstractWhereas research in Germany has focused mainly on how environmental burdens such as noise or air pollution affect health or well-being, little is known about the effects of environmental goods. Our study examines urban green spaces as one such environmental good, and asks how their usage affected life satisfaction during the coronavirus pandemic. Drawing on attention restoration and stress reduction theory as well as on theories of social integration, we further ask how different kinds of activities such as meeting friends or doing sports mediate the effects of green spaces on life satisfaction. Our empirical analy...

Long Covid: A Syndemics Approach to Understanding and Response
AbstractNearly one in five U.S. adults are impacted by long Covid. The health, social, and economic burdens of long Covid are complicated and trying. Although the causes of long Covid remain uncertain, emerging research suggests an infectious disease origin for at least some portion of cases. Data suggest that long Covid disproportionately impacts communities that already experience disparities in health, specifically lower-educated, low-i...
