Spectrum averaged cross section measurements of lutetium using standard < sup > 252 < /sup > Cf neutron source

The presented work uses only neutron standard, i.e., 252Cf(sf) reaction neutron field, for validation of lutetium threshold cross sections. SACS were inferred from gamma spectrometry derived reaction rates. The SACS which were derived include 175Lu (n,2n)174Lu, 175Lu (n,3n)173Lu, 175Lu (n,p)175Yb, and 176Lu (n,n')176m1Lu reactions. In this study, a neutron monitoring system based on a cylindrical 3He detector was designed and simulated using MCNPX code for the nuclear laboratories that use neutron sources for educational and research purposes. Influence of heat treatment on the mechanical and the lubricant wear characteristics of stainless-steel grades against 5  wt% NaCl as industrial shielding materials
This article investigates the impact of the heat treatment, and lubricant wear measurements at 5 wt % NaCl solution, mechanical and radiation shielding properties of three grades of stainless steels: SS316, M303, and SS201. The obtained results showed that heat-treated martensitic stainless-steel grade has improved mechanical and tribological properties while heat-treated austenitic stainless-steel grades showed deteriorated wear resistance. The radiation shielding parameters of the studied grades are comparable. The effectiveness of heat treatment in the presence of NaCl solution is verified.PMID:35830750 | DOI:10.1016/j....
