Method and equipment for estimation activity nuclides in samples of finite dimensions
This study presents a method of measuring the activity of a specific radionuclide 234mPa in samples placed in bulk transport containers under changing background conditions. The method makes it possible to measure specific activity of 234 mPa in objects without the need for sampling. The change in the effective sample volume limited by the surfaces of the containers is considered depending on the density of the measured material and the energy of gamma radiation of the radionuclide. The high sensitivity of scintillation detector, supplemented by adequate Monte Carlo simulation, allows spectrum measurements to be taken in a...

Investigations on α-Al < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 3 < /sub > thermoluminescence for dosimetry of high energy photons
This article presents a study of high-energy X-ray dosimetry carried out at CEA Gramat. In this study, we are interested in alumina as a new thermoluminescent dosimeter. We performed several pre-irradiation protocols to use alpha-alumina as a dosimeter over doses ranging from 0.09 Gy to 350/400 Gy in order to obtain calibration curve for these different protocols.PMID:38364611 | DOI:10.1016/j.apradiso.2024.111238 (Source: Applied Radiation and Isotopes)

Comparison between the theoretical and experimental values of transition rate B(E2), deformation parameters and intrinsic quadrupole moments for some Ti isotopes
In this study, electric quadrupole transition properties in some even-even Ti nuclei have been investigated by using different effective charges and interactions. In this respect, B(E2) transition rates, deformation parameters and intrinsic quadrupole moments have been calculated. In calculations, NuShellX code has been used to calculated one body matrix elements (OBDM). Theoretical calculations on these quantities have been compared with the experimental results, and it has been seen that theoretical values obtained by using the kb3 and vpnp interactions and Bohr Mottelson (B-M) and Standard (S-T) effective charges are cl...

Hardware algorithm design and validation for nuclear radiation imaging based on Monte Carlo simulation
This study is divided into two parts: simulation and hardware algorithm. In the simulation part, precise simulation of scintillation light transport in a crystal was achieved using the GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulation toolkit. A LaBr3(Ce) detector system was simulated by digitizing photon interactions. In the hardware algorithm part, a positioning algorithm based on a fully connected neural network was implemented and optimized using a heterogeneous distributed storage approach. The system validated and assessed the FPGA-based neural network gamma camera positioning algorithm, demonstrating significant consistency with comput...

TL glow curve structure of the phosphor reveals the presence of two TL glow peaks. The main TL glow peak of high intensity is observed at high temperature side i.e. at 162 °C and another peak of low intensity is observed at 316 °C. Further, the effect of dose on TL response of the phosphor has been studied and...

A wireless-controlled lab-scale system for automated gamma column scanning and radiotracer applications
We present a novel wireless-controlled lab-scale system for gamma column scanning and radiotracer applications. The system utilizes a microcontroller for wireless movement of the source and detector along vertical and lateral axes. Acquired data is wirelessly transmitted to a handheld device, enabling real-time scan profiles. The system reduces scan duration, manpower involvement, and radiation exposure. Applicability to radiotracer applications, especially residence-time distribution measurements, is demonstrated. Finally, with its expanded scanning area and enhanced flexibility, the system holds potential for providing c...
