The association between food neophobia, bi-dimensional aspects of orthorexia, and anxiety among vegetarians and omnivores
In conclusion, vegetarians exhibit lower levels of food neophobia and a greater interest in healthy eating than omnivores. Additionally, the distinct correlation between two dimensions of orthorexia and food neophobia and anxiety provides support for the two-dimensional nature of orthorexia.PMID:38503030 | DOI:10.1016/j.appet.2024.107303 (Source: Appetite)

Beyond individual responsibility towards healthy food choices: A qualitative study among pakistani women in Hong Kong
This study highlights the limit of a reductionist approach to healthy food as merely based on nutrition and individual responsibility. It stresses the need of a counter-discourse in the field of public health, emphasizing not only alternative cultural ideas of health and food, but also enlarging the field of health in biomedical terms to embrace "care" and acknowledging the structural constraints shaping migrant and ethnic population's vulnerability in making "healthy" food choices.PMID:38493870 | DOI:10.1016/j.appet.2024.107299 (Source: Appetite)

Comparing the impact of simple and educational point-of-decision messages on nutritional choice outcomes
In this study, we examine the impact of four messages on two nutritional attributes of cereals selected in a two-round pre- and post-message breakfast cereal choice exercise with numerous (n = 33) breakfast cereals available. Data were collected via an online survey of adult US residents recruited from the Prolific consumer panel. Three of the messages were simple reminder messages (taste, health, fiber), while there was additionally a longer fiber-focused messaging detailing the health benefits of fiber. Findings show that the simple messages outperformed the longer educational messages, though there were some trade-offs ...
