The correlation between serum total bile acid and adverse perinatal outcomes in pregnant women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and non-ICP hypercholanemia of pregnancy
CONCLUSIONS: If a pregnant woman has moderate-to-severe liver disease and TBA ≥ 100µmol/L, preterm termination of pregnancy (before 34 weeks) may be considered.PMID:38515230 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2331059 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Association between the haemoglobin glycation index (HGI) and clinical outcomes in patients with acute decompensated heart failure
CONCLUSIONS: A high HGI was directly associated with a reduction in all-cause and CV deaths but was not associated with MACE. These findings may be helpful in the management of patients with ADHF.PMID:38513606 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2330615 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Steatotic liver disease among lean and non-lean individuals in Southern Lao PDR: a cross-sectional study of risk factors
CONCLUSION: SLD prevalence is notably high among Laotian adults in rural areas, particularly in females and in non-lean individuals. Lean individuals with OV infection exhibited lower SLD prevalence. SLD was more prevalent in individuals with T2DM, independent of BMI. SLD adds to the burden of infection-related liver morbidity in Lao PDR.PMID:38502916 | PMC:PMC10953781 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2329133 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

A classification of idiopathic epiretinal membrane based on foveal avascular zone area using optical coherence tomography angiography
CONCLUSION: A classification based on the FAZ area was established innovatively. This classification can reflect the progression of iERM and is helpful to the postoperative prognosis.PMID:38502921 | PMC:PMC10953779 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2316008 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Exploring the molecular mechanisms of asthma across multiple datasets
CONCLUSION: This study uncovers novel genetic aspects of asthma, highlighting potential therapeutic pathways. It exemplifies the power of integrative bioinformatics in decoding complex disease patterns. However, these findings require further validation, and the precise roles of C1orf64 and C7orf26 in asthma warrant additional investigation to validate their therapeutic potential.PMID:38489401 | PMC:PMC10946276 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023.2258926 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Research progress on the mechanism of common inflammatory pathways in the pathogenesis and development of lymphoma
Ann Med. 2024 Dec;56(1):2329130. doi: 10.1080/07853890.2024.2329130. Epub 2024 Mar 15.ABSTRACTIn recent years, the incidence and mortality rates of lymphoma have gradually increased worldwide. Tumorigenesis and drug resistance are closely related to intracellular inflammatory pathways in lymphoma. Therefore, understanding the biological role of inflammatory pathways and their abnormal activation in relation to the development of lymphoma and their selective modulation may open new avenues for targeted therapy of lymphoma. The biological functions of inflammatory pathways are extensive, and they are central hubs for regulat...
