Optimizing the Hospital Blood Bank Stock in Korea: a Comparative Analysis of the Uniform 5-Day Stock Index and a Novel Blood Stock Index
CONCLUSIONS: While 5IS was unacceptable for universal application, Lim's IS remained near one shortage day and is considered more efficient than 5IS. Hospitals should implement indicators that consider DU and its variations. This is the first study to introduce Lim's IS as an indicator of optimal blood inventory, and the data are expected to provide guidance for effective blood inventory management nationwide, particularly during blood shortages.PMID:38098300 | DOI:10.3343/alm.2023.0242 (Source: Annals of Laboratory Medicine)

Performance Evaluation of the Roche Cobas 5800 HBV and HCV Tests: Comparison of the 200 and 500 μL Protocols
CONCLUSIONS: The Cobas 5800 200 and 500 μL protocols for the HBV DNA and HCV RNA tests demonstrated excellent performance. These findings establish the 200 μL protocol as a new option for low-volume samples, especially for pediatric and difficult-to-bleed patients.PMID:38098301 | DOI:10.3343/alm.2023.0306 (Source: Annals of Laboratory Medicine)
