Parent Support for Physical Activity and Motor Skills During Early Childhood: A Mixed-Methods Application of the Multi-process Action Control Framework
CONCLUSIONS: Parent PA support interventions during early childhood should include strategies for supporting FMS. Interventions should prioritize fostering a combination of reflective, regulatory, and reflexive behaviors to translate intentions to support PA and FMS into behavior among parents of young children.PMID:38339975 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaae004 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)

Systematic Review Examining the Behavior Change Techniques in Medication Adherence Intervention Studies Among People With Type 2 Diabetes
CONCLUSION: We identified specific BCTs and characteristics that are commonly reported in successful medication adherence interventions, which can facilitate the development of future interventions. Our review highlighted the need to consider and clearly describe different dimensions of context, theory, fidelity, and tailoring in an intervention.PMID:38334280 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaae001 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)

Effects of Resilience and Emotion Regulation on Perceptions of Positive and Negative Life Changes in Cancer Survivors: A Longitudinal Study
CONCLUSIONS: Findings suggest that cancer survivors who are less resilient and struggle with emotion regulation are more susceptible to perceptions of fewer positive and greater negative life changes after cancer. As such, psychosocial interventions should be developed to promote resilience and emotional regulation in cancer survivors.PMID:38309713 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaae003 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)

Use of behavior change techniques in physical activity programs and services for older adults: findings from a rapid review
CONCLUSION: Consideration of which BCTs are included in interventions and their impact on outcomes can improve the effectiveness and implementation of future interventions. To enable this, providers can design, implement, and evaluate interventions using a BCT taxonomy.PMID:38300788 | PMC:PMC10858305 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaad074 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)

The Underlying Structure of Preventive Behaviors and Related Factors During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Comprehensive Network Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The internal structures of vaccination and mask-wearing behaviors were quite different, the latter of which were mainly affected by socioeconomic status and health-related behaviors and the former by knowledge about vaccines and political beliefs. Information-seeking and family relationships were the bridge factors connecting these two self-preventive behavior clusters, suggesting the direction of future efforts.PMID:38284623 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaad073 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)

The Relationship Between Perceived Uncontrollable Mortality Risk and Health Effort: Replication, Secondary Analysis, and Mini Meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings offer support for the role of PUMR in mediating the relationship between subjective socioeconomic position and health effort. The results highlight the importance of measuring and understanding PUMR in studying socioeconomic inequalities in health behaviors. We discuss potential areas for future research, including determining the accuracy of PUMR, investigating influential cues, examining the role of media in shaping risk perceptions, and understanding individuals' awareness of their own perceptions of mortality risk.PMID:38190133 | PMC:PMC10858306 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaad072 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)

Revisiting the Transtheoretical Model for Physical Activity: A Large-Scale Cross-Sectional Study on Japanese-Speaking Adults
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the data support the theoretical assumptions of the TTM, but the stage specificity of the active processes may not always be consistent with the theory.PMID:38166169 | DOI:10.1093/abm/kaad069 (Source: Annals of Behavioral Medicine)
